Overview
Are you looking for an affordable, fairing-equipped machine for an A2 license, a road companion without excessive thrills but capable of keeping pace? Turn to the Suzuki GSX 600 F, this often-overlooked machine that brought the brand's sport-touring philosophy to the 600cc market. Launched in 1991, this motorcycle has undergone several evolutions, including a 34-horsepower version for the A2 license, and its technical specifications reveal an honest but dated design. With an inline four-cylinder engine of 600 cc delivering 80 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and a torque of 55 Nm, it fits into the lineage of Japanese engines from the time: you have to make them sing to express their potential. Low revs are quite hollow, a typical characteristic of these engines, but as soon as the speedometer turns towards 8000 rpm, the machine reveals itself and can propel you up to 200 km/h.

Its appearance is a subject in itself. The bio-design of the 90s, with that particular rear light on models before 2004, gives it a strong personality, a look that you either love or hate. It is the faired equivalent of the GSX 750 F, but more compact. With a 780 mm seat height and a wet weight of 229 kg, it is accessible, especially for a beginner who wants a touring bike without the complexity of a pure sportbike. The steel double cradle frame and the 41 mm fork offer remarkable road stability, especially in a straight line and in large, fast curves. However, if you are looking for the surgical precision of a modern sportbike, move on. The suspension and braking, the details of which are sometimes lacking in used vehicle specifications, are designed for everyday use and long journeys, not for the track.
Compared to its competitors of the time, often unfaired roadsters, the Suzuki GSX 600 F occupied a unique niche: the mid-size faired touring bike. For an original budget of around €6300, it offered an interesting compromise. Today, on the used market, it represents an economical option for a new A2 license holder who wants a motorcycle capable of travel without sacrificing a sporty look. The riding position, slightly more engaged than that of a pure touring bike, invites you to take the open road rather than venture into the urban jungle. It is a machine that requires anticipatory riding, an old-school motorcycle that rewards the rider who understands its limits. If you want to let off steam, there's the GSX-R. But if you are looking for a stable, reliable and distinctive partner to travel the roads, this Suzuki deserves a look. Its 20-liter fuel tank and six-speed chain transmission are the assets of the traveler. It is not the most exciting, but it is honest, and sometimes, that is all we ask.
