Overview
What separates a production sportbike from a racing machine? At MV Agusta, the answer lies in a handful of parts delivered in a wooden crate. The 2019 MV Agusta F4 1000 RC embodies this philosophy to the point of obsession: a road-going hypersport that needs only an afternoon in the workshop to be made Superbike-ready. Produced in a very limited run of approximately 250 units, this one wears the number 37 on its flanks. A figure that nods to the world titles claimed by the Schiranna-based manufacturer, even if those laurels date back to another era. The livery draws from the machine raced in WSBK by Jordi Torres, updated with touches of black and refreshed sponsor graphics. The result is aggressively elegant, draped in carbon from the belly pan to the fairing.

Beneath that thoroughbred bodywork beats a 998 cc inline four-cylinder producing 205 hp in road trim. The Reparto Corse kit supplied with the bike, comprising a titanium SC Project exhaust system and a dedicated ECU, unleashes 212 hp at 13,600 rpm and 114.7 Nm of torque at 9,300 rpm. The 13.4:1 compression ratio and oversquare bore-and-stroke dimensions of 79 x 50.9 mm betray an engine designed for high revs, one that demands commitment and nerve to exploit fully. Against a Ducati Panigale V4 R or a BMW S 1000 RR, the MV powerplant holds its own on paper. The difference comes down to character: where the Panigale roars with its Desmosedici V4, the F4 sings with a linear fury typical of a Japanese inline four, yet with a decidedly Italian temperament. The ELDOR electronics manage four maps, including a User mode that opens access to fine-tuning of traction control across eight levels, engine braking, the rev limiter, and throttle sensitivity. A multi-axis inertial measurement unit refines everything in real time, while the EAS 2.0 quickshifter delivers clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
The chassis makes zero compromises. The chrome-molybdenum steel tube trellis frame, complemented by aluminum side plates, delivers surgical rigidity and even allows adjustment of the swingarm pivot height. The Öhlins suspension — a 43 mm NIX 30 inverted fork at the front and a TTX 36 rear shock — with 120 mm of travel at each end, is fully adjustable. Brembo braking at the front lines up two 320 mm discs clamped by radially mounted GP monoblock calipers, backed by a Bosch 9+ ABS system that also monitors rear wheel lift. The 220 mm rear disc paired with a Nissin four-piston caliper rounds out a formidable braking package. The whole setup rides on 120/70-17 and 200/55-17 rubber — pure sportbike sizing.
In road configuration, the F4 RC tips the scales at 183 kg dry. Install the crate's components, including lightweight hardware and additional carbon fiber pieces, and the weight drops to 175 kg. With a 17-liter tank and a seat perched at 830 mm, the bike makes no effort to court the weekend tourer. It targets the well-heeled rider capable of appreciating a 302 km/h top speed and justifying the €40,900 price tag. A steep sum that includes the certificate of authenticity, a protective cover, and above all that coveted race kit. This F4 1000 RC is aimed at a niche of demanding enthusiasts — collectors or seasoned track riders — who want to own a piece of Italian sporting heritage before it vanishes from the catalogs for good.
