Overview

In 2015, the F4 models do not hide their desire to evolve. The R version is a 2014 model carried over in the catalog; only the standard F4 1000 and RR models are marked 2015. And for the unreal, the R continues to fuel the fantasy. The competition has remarkably raised the level of the category. Yet, the Varese hypersport does not disappoint. Within its internals, there are horses, a lot of horses. The 4-cylinder engine, recently reworked, has more square internal dimensions than the previous generation of F4. A bore increased to 79 mm for a stroke reduced to 50.9 mm, this gives you an engine with dynamite in the combustion chambers while still allowing it to maintain a reasonable linear piston speed. It allows the diva to join the trio of most powerful hypersports, announcing more than 195 horsepower at 13,400 rpm. Enough to look down on the BMW S 1000 RR, tease the Kawasaki ZX-10R, Yamaha R1 and Aprilia RSV4 RR... and die laughing when reading the technical specifications of the CBR 1000 and RC8-R. The internals and equipment are flattering: variable intake, anti-dribble system, 8-level traction control and four engine maps selectable on the handlebars. But in keeping with a respectful older sister to the one who has given her so much, the R yields 6 horsepower and a scoop of torque to the RR. Prestige obliges.

The various electronic aids are now grouped under the designation MVCIS (Motor and Vehicle Integrated Control System). Alongside this monogram, we discover a host of small details that appeared in 2013: daytime LED lights on the leading edge of the air intake, lightweight wheels, a rebalanced crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, variable intake, an oil circuit and redesigned exhaust systems, a quickshifter, an Öhlins TTX damper and 1 kilogram less on the scale. 2014 saw the serial arrival of ABS, sporty as it should be: the Bosch 9MP.

Very powerful but not inaccessible, the F4 1000 R positions itself precisely between the base F4 sportbike and the extreme F4 RR. The R costs an additional 2,000 euros, which gives you something to think about, but to have the privilege of displaying 2 R side by side on the fairing, you need to crack a 7,000 euro bill. With its fighter jet temperament, its engine designed to yell and spit out everything it has in the revs, its timeless silhouette and its refined chassis, the playground of the F4 1000 R promises fiery sport, very close to violence. The factory in Varese has pushed vice to the point of integrating something to carry a passenger; as if that passenger could imagine for even a single second that they would be welcome aboard...
