Overview
Arriving at a racetrack with an MV Agusta F3 RR is a bit like showing up to a dinner in a tuxedo when everyone else is in jeans. It commands attention, it provokes questions, and it serves as a reminder that in the world of hypersportives, Italy can still play the card of exception. Here, we’re not talking about a simple evolution, but a declared spotlight on a SuperSport championship that desperately needs fresh blood. While the category struggled to attract manufacturers, the F3 RR arrives with its winglets and its predatory gaze, ready to clash with the new Panigale V2 and other prepared Street Triple RS models. The intention is clear: it’s not just about looking good, but about being effective.

Visually, the RR embraces a radical aerodynamic design philosophy. These carbon winglets, irresistibly reminiscent of those on the Honda CBR1000RR-R, are not just for show. At 149 mph (240 km/h), they generate 18 pounds (8 kg) of downforce, pressing the front end down and providing additional stability that the traction control benefits from. To counteract the induced drag, MV has reworked the entire bodywork, with a new bubble and redesigned flanks. The craziest detail is this front fender made of carbon fiber, the shape of which channels air directly towards the brake calipers for active cooling. It’s serious, it’s never-before-seen in production, and it sets the tone. Under this aggressive skin, the frame has been stiffened with new aluminum plates, and the rear wheel has been lightened by 14.8 ounces (425 grams) to reduce inertia by 10%. The beast is ready to turn in sharply.
The heart beats with the characteristic fury of the MV Agusta three-cylinder engine. This 61.1 cubic inch (798 cm3) block, already present on other models in the range, has been further refined. With titanium valves, reduced friction, and an optimized exhaust system, it produces 147 horsepower at 13,000 rpm and 64.3 lb-ft (88 Nm) of torque at 10,100 rpm. The figures are already eloquent, but it’s with the optional racing kit, including an Akrapovic exhaust and a dedicated ECU control unit, that the personality explodes. We’re talking about 155 horsepower for a dry weight dropped to 363 pounds (165 kg). The promised sensations are simply brutal. The electronics are up to the task of this fiery engine, with an inertial platform that allows for more intelligent traction control and wheelie control, taking into account the motorcycle’s lean angle. Cornering ABS, the four riding modes, launch control, and the bidirectional quickshifter form a complete arsenal, controllable via a 5.5-inch connected TFT dashboard.
For whom is the F3 RR built? Clearly, for the rider who sees the track as their second home. It’s a demanding machine, designed for pure performance, where every detail – from the Brembo Stylema calipers to the Marzocchi and Sachs adjustable suspensions – aims for efficiency. Its price, around €24,500, places it in the same league as a 1000 cm3 Japanese hypersportive. The choice is therefore philosophical: do you prefer the brute excess of a liter bike or the precise agility and unique character of this Italian triple? The MV Agusta F3 RR makes no compromises. It is the weapon of choice for those who seek less to impress than to dominate, with a technical elegance that is its own. It is a concentrate of technology and passion, a statement of intent on two wheels.
