Overview
It was a time when Moto-Guzzi was one of the most innovative manufacturers of its era. It was a period when this name resonated strongly in the annals of competition. There were moments when the brand almost disappeared… Yet…
100 years after its creation, the Italian eagle still soars above Mandello. Its range now comprises only three families, but it claims authenticity to the very last cylinder. Each has named a representative to celebrate this centenary. Among the V9s, the Bobber bears the Centenario edition badge.
This roadster from Lombardy presents its tributes. Its colors are ambiguous but do not draw inspiration from the first Guzzi, the “500 Normale.” To dress up, the V9 Bobber Centenario preferred to adopt the theme of one of the most famous Guzzi racing machines: the Otto Cilindri.
This is evidenced by a brown seat for the two protagonists, as well as a tank covered with a matte gray fabric. The V9 not having a fairing like its ancestor, the pale green of yesteryear is reproduced on the fairing panels and the front fender. The centenary logo is also featured on the latter. This series has three other particularities: a golden eagle emblem on the sides of the tank, the brand embroidered at the end of the seat with a thread also flavescant, and availability only during the year 2021. It’s a trend; no longer be limited by the number but over time.
Although it draws on the symbol of the 1955 V8, the V9 is content with a more modest engine. Its 853 cm3 transverse V2 offers the charm of an inimitable character, sprinkled with a majority desire to enjoy its torque. The Bobber is also more rebellious and more technological than its close cousin, the Roamer. The Centenario edition requires only a few hundred euros extra. Some Italian productions take advantage of this kind of cult to be much more demanding. The V9 Bobber is accompanied at the celebrations by the V85 TT and the V7 Stone.
