Overview

Ten years. That's how long it took the V7 Racer to establish itself as a fixture in the landscape — one of those motorcycles you recognize at first glance and don't need to justify buying to the uninitiated. The anniversary deserved careful treatment, and Mandello del Lario responded with this commemorative edition that recalls why the transalpine café racer made such an impression from the moment it was born.

Moto Guzzi 750 V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary

What strikes you immediately is the return of chrome. Previous years had seen black creep across the exhausts, the engine, and the bodywork panels, as if the bike were trying to keep a low profile. Even the tank had been tamed beneath a satin finish. This 10th Anniversary reverses the trend: the flanks gleam once again, the number 7 reappears on the bodywork, and the old-school headlight fairing crowns the whole with a resolutely sporting air — even if its protective role is strictly limited to the nose and instruments. On a machine whose style is its primary reason for being, that kind of detail matters as much as the spec sheet. The bar-end mirrors, the red contrast stitching on the seat, the shortened rear fender, the full LED lighting units: every addition points in the same direction, toward a carefully considered visual coherence.

Beneath the bodywork, the 744 cc 90-degree V-twin still ticks along at its unhurried pace. 52 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, 60.8 Nm available from 4,900 rpm, shaft drive out of the six-speed gearbox: nothing new mechanically, and that's intentional. This engine isn't here to break records — it's here to provide character, to send its vibrations through your wrists, to remind you at every red light that you're riding something alive. Against a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 or a Triumph Street Twin, the Guzzi plays a different tune, older and more Italian. The claimed top speed of 170 km/h places the machine squarely in the realm of urban riding and relaxed open-road touring, not track days.

At 209 kg fully fueled and with a 770 mm seat height, it's accessible to a wide range of riders, including those of shorter stature. The 21-liter tank promises comfortable range. No complaints there. But one decision does raise questions: the disappearance of the Öhlins shocks that equipped previous editions. On a limited series priced at €10,500, removing the premium suspension component to return to standard units is a difficult trade-off to defend. Anniversary editions generally work the other way, piling on premium equipment to justify the price. The Dunlop Arrowmax Streetsmart tires remain a respectable fitment, but the omission of the Öhlins leaves a bitter taste.

Moto Guzzi 750 V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary

This V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary is aimed primarily at café racer enthusiasts looking for a machine with a genuine history behind it, an instantly recognizable engine, and careful attention to its chrome finishes. This is not a motorcycle for those chasing raw performance — it's a motorcycle for those who appreciate stylistic coherence and the heritage of a brand that has been building motorcycles since 1921. The suspension compromise remains a real disappointment, but the overall package makes a compelling proposition for those who accept it on its own terms.
