Overview

When a relatively confidential Spanish brand like Macbor decides to update its Rockster 125, one might expect a simple cosmetic facelift. The 2025 EVO version, however, plays a different card, that of a 125 that embraces its positioning without detour.

Macbor Rockster 125 EVO

Under the 13.5-liter fuel tank — quite generous for the category, which flatters road autonomy — beats a 124.70 cc 4-stroke single-cylinder engine developing 12.2 horsepower at 9500 rpm, for a torque of 9.8 Nm available at 6500 rpm. These figures are in the high average of the segment, comparable to what a Yamaha MT-125 or a Honda CB125R offer, two references that dominate the market. The 6-speed gearbox is a real argument: it allows the engine to be exploited with finesse, to keep the revs in the right range on dual carriageway, and contributes to smoothing transitions. On a 125, a well-spaced sixth gear really changes daily life on expressways.

The steel tubular frame is nothing revolutionary, but it does the job. The 37 mm diameter telescopic fork and the two lateral rear shock absorbers form a classic combination, consistent with the versatile road use aimed for. Disc braking at the front prioritizes efficiency without superfluous electronic sophistication, which suits a public of young A1 license holders or riders returning to the saddle after a long break. The announced top speed of 100 km/h is within legal limits, neither more nor less.

Macbor Rockster 125 EVO

At €2599, the Rockster 125 EVO positions itself as a serious alternative to the Japanese and German models in the segment, without however claiming to reach their perceived level of finish. This is the usual compromise of Iberian brands in this niche: an honest equipment/price ratio, Euro 5+ compliance assured, but a brand image still to be built in France. The compression ratio of 9.5:1 and the cylinder head with 4 valves per cylinder testify to an engineering department that was not content with the strict thermodynamic minimum.

Macbor Rockster 125 EVO

This Rockster clearly addresses the novice driver who wants a streetfighter look without breaking the bank, or the urban budget rider looking for more character than a scooter. The weight and seat height data, not communicated by the manufacturer, remain a legitimate question mark before purchase — a test ride is essential to judge the actual ergonomics. Macbor does not reinvent the 125, but delivers a machine consistent in its intentions.
