Overview

KTM and Brabus propose for 2024 an even more upscale version of the 1300 R. The demonic roadster intends to transform into an exhibition motorcycle or even a timeless technical work of art. Violent in every respect, the Brabus 1300 R Edition Masterpiece elevates refinement to another level.

This Masterpiece immediately stands out with its gold rims. Magnificent Brabus Monoblock Z “Gold Platinum” wheels, created specifically for it, forged and CNC machined with diamond-polished sections. Gold accents are also found on the exhaust trim and on trim lines running on the fairing.

A fairing that is reinforced with carbon fiber. The Brabus 1300 R already received quite a few parts made from this noble material. The Masterpiece edition adds protection for the swingarm as well as the small triangles between the frame tubes and the rear subframe. The exclusive feel is also signaled by a small “Brabus Masterpiece” plaque on the seat cowl, a badge on the front of the tank displaying the serial number, and a carbon box containing the keys to the machine plus another identification emblem. Somewhat like the MV-Agusta special series.

Brabus is offering its latest “creation” in two colors. A dark “Onyx Black” and a cream-racer “Diamond White.” Each is available in only 25 units, even less than previous series—the first 1300 R in 2022 was sold in 154 units; the following model year proposed 290. The highly crafted marketing slogan will sell the 50 Brabus Masterpieces in a record time, as did its predecessors. Special series still work well, even when they cost 40,000 euros, as is the case here.

That’s almost twice the price of a KTM 1290 Superduke EVO. Why mention the Austrian hyper-roadster? Because the Brabus 1300 R is developed based on it. The very stylish round headlight, the side fairings with a tortured design, and these kinds of winglets are enough on their own to noticeably change the expression of the beast. But fortunately, there’s the powerful engine underneath. This allows it to announce a substantial 180 horsepower from a large 1301 cm3 twin-cylinder engine. The enormous torque exceeds 14 mkg, enough to move several of your vertebrae with each acceleration. The chassis is as sporty as it gets, with a steel trellis frame where the engine serves as a stiffening element, semi-active WP suspension, a 48 mm inverted fork, a very appreciated monobrach, and highly effective Brembo Stylema 4-piston brake calipers to bite 320 mm discs.

This also includes a significant amount of electronics. This powder keg is supervised by 5 Riding Modes, active cornering traction control, a switchable rear ABS, cruise control, keyless start, a quickshifter, engine slip control, tire pressure monitoring, a wheelie control, and a 5-inch color TFT screen. Brabus offers a small bonus with a special animation when the dashboard is switched on.

As with the Brabus I and II, the Masterpiece is equipped with a premium leather seat, heated and adorned with the “Diamond Rising” house motif. Heated grips are also standard. As if one would dare to venture into the cold and the sliding with such a machine....

This “double” limited series will be the grand finale of the KTM-Brabus. Indeed, these exclusive motorcycles are reaching the culmination of their career and are letting it be known with a heightened level of refinement. Neither the mechanics nor the chassis are specially modified for this ultimate version—a shame—but Brabus offers with the motorcycle a protective cover, a floor mat, and the possibility of visiting the Brabus factory in Bottrop.
