Overview
KTM presents a Rally version of its 790 Adventure, even more exploratory than the R and ready to tackle countless journeys. Benefiting from a specific livery, a bit more aggressive, it is full of PowerParts accessories, including an Akrapovic exhaust and suspensions better suited to off-road riding for seasoned enthusiasts. Where large SUV trail bikes wouldn’t even dare to approach, this Adventure Rally is already smiling with teeth full of dirt.
It benefits from WP XPLOR PRO 7548 inverted forks and a WP XPLOR PRO 6746 shock absorber – a suspension that the brand claims is much more effective and close to that of the 450 entered in the Dakar. The forks stand out with the 'Cone Valve' system, featuring a tapered stop to improve comfort, offer very effective damping and leading-edge bottoming resistance. Also, you avoid changing valve stacks when adjusting settings. The rear shock absorber, benefiting like the front from multiple adjustments, highlights a lot of efficiency and feel. Designed to tackle the most demanding trails, the suspensions gain 30 mm of travel, resulting in a seat height of 910 mm. Nice.
The LC8c twin-cylinder engine remains unchanged, with more than sufficient 95 horsepower at the wheel. The 790 Adventure R Rally benefits from richer equipment than the R: the Akra exhaust allowing to gain approximately 1 kilo, winglets and a transparent screen, an Up&Down quickshifter, carbon fiber tank protectors, narrower rims surrounded by air chambers, a flatter Rally seat and footrests more suited to hardcore off-road riding.
A beautiful combat machine for enthusiasts of the genre, which will be produced in only 500 copies. The price is more than substantial, even higher than that of the most seasoned 1290 Super Adventure. Ultimately worthy of its exploration capabilities.
