Overview

The adventure, where does it begin? In the bush or Chichen Itza for some, just the first trail after the street for others. At KTM, it starts with the 390. With a profile close to the 890, 43 horsepower and stretches of road between the wheels.

Speaking of it, that's what bothers off-road enthusiasts. The wheels. On the 390 Adventure, they don't have a very wandering profile. But here’s the SW version to remedy this “misalignment.” It features spoked rims as standard equipment. Better for absorbing irregularities and surprises on trails.

However, Katoche hasn't changed the tires or the overall dimensions. The TKC 70 tires in 19 and 17 inch sizes will suffice for excursions but…. Does the SW really want to be more daring than its sister?

The trail word is synonymous with travel, escape, and an inflated price tag. This version of the Adventure costs a few hundred euros more than the standard model, for a final price of 8 bricks. Arg, the equivalent of a 700 / 750 roadster for a 400, it’s a bit rough. But the 400 in question has adjustable Apex suspension (compression, rebound, and preload) *, traction control and a reactive ABS in corners, two Riding Modes, a slipper clutch, a 5-inch TFT screen and a mini-screen with 2 positions.

Well, there you have it, the SW is a KTM 390 Adventure with spoked rims. Almost a 400 XT of the new age... with 13 hp and 25 kg more.

* The 43 mm inverted fork is adjustable for compression and rebound; the shock absorber, for its part, allows for preload and rebound adjustment.
