Overview

Kawasaki has decided to offer two versions of its Z 500. One for everyone, and the other, the Special Edition, for everyone and those who like tech. A more premium approach to enhance the machine and a bit of the owner.

On the Z 500 SE, improvements are located at the level of more robust colors (two choices possible), a fully painted frame, the addition of an engine guard and a USB-C socket, slimmer LED indicators, and the presence of a color TFT instrument panel.

Just like the instrument panel of the standard Z 500, it can communicate with the smartphone via Bluetooth. This gives access to the Rideology app, data on the motorcycle, and notifications in case of a call or message. But the screen of the SE still has that more modern and qualitative rendering than an LCD block.

Dynamically, the two Z 500 cannot claim any difference. Same chassis, same weight, same power - from the overhaul of the 339 cm3 Z 400 to 451 cm3, with 45 horsepower and 4.3 mkg. This engine, which they share with the 500 Eliminator and the Ninja/Z H7 Hybrid, gains noticeably in low-end torque from the 400. The choice between one or the other will therefore be made only on the clothes and a small dose of additional technology. It may be little, but it can quickly make all the difference.
