Overview

It's crazy! When it comes to style, the Italians are strong, and we like it. Because the Leoncino takes full advantage. As soon as it hits the street, this young panther concocts a café-racer version that's truly effective. The trend dictated the exercise, of course; as with so many others. But there’s reason to appreciate the operation. No stopwatch, no pressure, just tension, and a dose of gym-tonic for the 500 Leoncino Sport.

Benelli has thus decided to pursue the trend by “courting” its little roadster. With a certain panache that cannot be ignored. And the Leoncino Sport is not to be ignored. It adopts all the appropriate gear. The added head of the fork takes care of the look with a minimum of protection. Behind it, great care is taken to ensure the rider bangs their arms as they should on a pair of handlebar risers. When some competitors opt out, the Pesaro motorcycle respects the tradition of offering spoked rims. Then, a series of embellishments will tip the scales: seat cover, radiator guard overflowing with scoops, double sport exhaust, seat with specific patterns and trim, black exhaust line, vibrant colors, and the finishing touch: a mini rigid saddlebag on the right side simulating a license plate. Barely enough room to fit a wallet.

Under the trim, there are no technical changes for this Leoncino Sport. With its large front end of sporty design, the threat begins with an inverted 50 mm fork, 320 mm discs, and radial 4-piston brake calipers. The engine’s bite will be much more moderate. The 500 cm3 twin produces a little over fifty horsepower (47.6) and a torque of 4.6 mkg. Just enough for a racer, sufficient for a very long coffee on the terrace of the countryside. The little lion adorning the front fender will produce its little effect in front of every curious onlooker.

One is entitled to question the motivations of the Sino-Italian brand. As much Benelli is capable of bringing us questionable copies (Imperiale, 402S, 752S, TRK), as much the drawing can be truly seductive. The Leoncino benefits from this good grace. With this Sport face, everyone will really want to crack for mini-specials between the neighborhoods. It will be all the more regrettable to have a frankly modest dose of watts given its provocation.
