Overview

The last sportbike Kawa marketed in the 125 cm3 clan was when? The late 1980s, with the 125 AR? Were there others after that? Not sure.

It’s therefore a superb challenge that the brand is undertaking with this small-displacement Ninja. Returning to a displacement abandoned since the little Eliminator, coming to tease the sport, and investing in a category where the R 125 and RC Katoche are firmly established – you need to have guts.

Let’s get on with it. The time is right at Kawasaki for boldness. This 125 Ninja will therefore be ideal for provoking a shiver among teenagers, pulling out their smartphone where Sykes or Rea are on the attack on their machine’s wallpaper. It doesn’t shy away from words either, claiming that its design is inspired by the ZX-10 RR engaged in WSBK. Yeah, right... Let's admit it. We’re not going to tell you the story of the frog and the bull. However, the machine is truly enhancing for A1 licenses and aims to exude that Ninja spirit that the house cultivates in high doses.

We’re therefore going to want to discover the angle once spurred on the good roads. The Ninja 125 will rely on a single-cylinder engine developing 15 horsepower. No point asking for better, it’s like girlfriends, and it’s the maximum allowed. Technically, the Kawa doesn’t stand out much, featuring a disc brake per wheel, ABS, not very wide tires (better for agility), semi-handlebars not too aggressive, and a certain sense of ego. Where the Ninja scores points is with its inspired design, a robe radiated in green, and a trellis steel tube frame. The designers wanted to make a connection with the structure used for the H2. More marketing than necessary. But it will make an impression, and will allow us to provoke KTM, the only other 125 sportbike to receive this type of frame.

We feel something emerging in the 125 troupe. Although the CBR currently has no descendants, a GSX-R recently came to join the ranks of the RS, R 125, and RC. Now the Kawasaki 125 Ninja comes to sow the trouble. And that’s a good thing. A little agitation in the 1/8th liter, it always announces beautiful little neighborhood skirmishes.
