Overview

The Scout Classic refocuses itself in 2026: a single color, "Sunset Red Classic," a power reduction from 105 to 94 horsepower, and as standard the highest Limited + Tech finish. This corresponds to a premium logo, a USB port, three Riding Modes (Sport – Standard – Touring) modifying throttle response, traction control, cruise control, the ability to restrict the Scout to A2, keyless start, and the 10 cm color screen with Ride Command software, its turn-by-turn navigation, riding stats, 6 display themes, and various interactions.

A way to affirm that it is a safe bet for the brand, and almost timeless. The Scout is immediately identifiable. The long and elongated silhouette is respected, the identity and proportions preserved, the fenders always well-enveloped. You find it, as if sprinkled with a memory; and yet, quickly, you realize that a lot of things have been reworked underneath the skin.

The engine is the most striking example. Indian surprised the world in 2015 with the 1133 cm3 block: liquid-cooled, modern, it was also distinguished by its sculpted cylinders and cylinder heads. The new twin presents much more consensual shapes, softened, almost chubby. The large exhaust pipes mask it much more than before, before joining in a large bazooka instead of Tommy Gun mufflers. This SpeedPlus wants to show the change.

Completely redesigned, this engine presents an increased displacement of 1250 cm3. An increase in the bore of 5 mm for a more square engine (rare on an American motorcycle), a significantly increased compression ratio, an improved injection, and there you have it, the power was pushed to 105 horsepower for the Scout... before being calmed down on this model year. The "101" version does not conceive it that way, with the twin sending 111 horsepower. Torque can also be satisfied with this displacement. It gains more than 1 mkg, with a maximum of 11 mkg at 6300 rpm. Indian took the opportunity to retouch the gearbox.

A discerning eye will have noticed the more discreet and better integrated engine radiator... and above all the presence of steel tubes. It is a striking fact. The 1133 Scout was an oddity in the custom world, with its aluminum frame inherited from the Victory Octane. The 1250 falls back into line with a very classic tubular steel structure. The wheels also orient themselves towards vintage with spoked rims. The Scout is thus less "technically disconcerting" and more suited to certain personalization exercises.

Its peripherals have not followed this trend. Still a simple 41 mm fork accompanied by a single brake disc, a pair of rear shock absorbers with a disc as large as the front, belt drive and 16-inch tires. The seat is raised by 3 cm but remains very accessible with 680 mm of altitude.

10 years of Scout without major changes then a profound mutation. The Indian 1250 Scout defines new standards for its family, while bringing more power, a little less weight and a more customization-based approach. In addition to the Classic version, 5 other models are in the catalog, to respond to its heterogeneous desires (Scout Bobber – Sport Scout – Super Scout – Scout 101 - Sport Scout RT).
