Overview

Young leather jacket enthusiasts dreaming of a Bonneville will be able to look at something bigger, grander. They were entitled to the 900; for 2026, they can also get their hands on the 1200. Indeed, the T120 is now restrictable to A2. This is also the time for a few improvements: a USB-C port, traction control, and ABS now adaptive in corners thanks to the graft of an inertial unit, a new headlight (inside), and cruise control installed as standard – except that said cruise control has already been there since 2021... a discrepancy in the records?

Compliance with Euro5 had already brought its share of small modifications: driving modes refined, engine cleaned up, weight loss - it was a little technical makeover for the 1200 Bonneville. One of the most famous English bikes continues, without showing anything under this nostalgic suit.

The engine delivers the same power and torque. The only consequence of its refurbishment is a higher revving point where maximum torque is found, 400 rpm higher. The rider will pay little attention to this, given that the mechanics announce less inertia. Brembo braking components are of better quality, and subtle styling tweaks are applied (tank badge, cover under the right boot, dashboard).

Very few aesthetic modifications, and yet, you find that its line has been refined?!! Normal; the passenger retention bar has disappeared. Lightening the rear, both literally and figuratively, the loss of this accessory is unlikely to please those using it for two-up riding.

Oops, the center stand has also been removed. As have the heated grips. To compensate, cruise control is now standard. It's up to each person to appreciate... or not. Enough to register a small weight loss, of the 7 kilos that the Bonnie claims to have lost. A lot on the new aluminum rims, a little in the engine, and the rest with the evaporated accessories.

Yesterday as today, it asserts another nature. The Black edition, as its name suggests, is black in color. But not only. The old Black series was not limited to a color scheme. The 1200 is available in several volumes - all dark, but one likes to flirt with gray. To mark its difference, the T 120 Black is distinguished by a brown seat and full black details: the rims, the engine finish, the exhaust pipes, the headlight surround, the rearview and front mudguard retaining rods, the foot controls and passenger footrests, and the turn signal housings.

Propelled by multiple displacements for decades, the 1200 really represents a break from the 2000s revival. Now T 120, the Bonneville is no longer the placid machine with a short breath and limited muscle. Equipped with a large parallel twin with a large displacement, the Hinckley motorcycle now sends out more than 10 mkg. Quite substantial!

With a respectable 80 horsepower spread over the torque. And the casing contains more than just a twin cylinder and pieces of steel. On board are an anti-slip system, ABS, a Ride-by-Wire system allied to two injection maps (Road or Rain), a coded key immobilizer, an anti-backlash clutch, LED front and rear lights, and a USB accessory socket.
