Overview
Rather stripped down, more bobber than cruiser, wanting to be rebellious as its name suggests, the CMX 1100 wants to remain simple in its appearance as much as pleasant with its lively engine and ease of use. Of course, it doesn’t have the “grunt” and prestige of an American production, displaying almost twice the displacement and a price tag that is also twice as hefty. Always this story of reason and passion……
Except the 1100 Rebel felt the need to let loose a bit; hence this SE version. Not at all at the color level, as the beautiful Flare Orange is not carried over. A shame, a bit of color in this category was pleasant. The dark has taken its place, embellished with a bronze patina for the rims and a series of accessories to show off.
But first the front with its small headlight fairing. Don’t count on it to provide any protection, except for the new 5-inch color TFT instrument panel adopted by all the big CMX models. The front of the Special Edition rebels with fork gaiters, a fender a (very) little shorter, indicators implanted lower, an anodized radiator grille and mirrors placed at the end of the handlebars. Honda has succumbed late to this trend, which the 1100 SE is the first to offer as standard. Triumph or Ducati are more accustomed to the fact.
A diamond-patterned seat to complete the whole and you are ready to engage on a chic ride. Engage, engage…. It’s a generic word. Because the CMX 1100 takes care of it all by itself with its DCT robotic gearbox. For those who join the train on the go, the mechanics come from the Africa Twin, with its double-clutch automatic transmission and generous 1084 cm3 twin. When the 1100 Rebel came out, Honda had deflated it in power to better suit the category’s usage. 2025 and Euro5+ are fortunately for this engine, which gains a few horsepower (88.4 hp at 7,250 rpm) and reinforced torque from the low end (maximum still 10 mkg at 4,750 rpm).
A CMX 1100 is a custom that seems stripped down but is nevertheless equipped with 4 Riding Modes, a torque control, an anti-wheelie, a USB-C socket, a cruise control and a smartphone connection. The SE version gains a kilo on the scale but remains as low a seat height and accessible.
