Overview
With its MSX 125, Honda has managed to bring back the playful, fun, no-fuss little motorcycle. Everyone saw in this machine the descendant of the Monkey, with a hint of the Dax spirit. Going about daily life with the Mini Street X-treme is like treating yourself to a little dose of madness through all the obstacles of the city. The motorcycle of Spirou, the Marsupilami, and the Professor. Appealing, as present and valiant in the city as in the paddocks.
In 2016, it got a makeover. There was no question of touching the basic concept, only the trim and minor details. It must be said that the MSX needs nothing more technically, for fear of losing its charm. Now, it looks a bit more upscale with its trendy cubic side panels, its two-tiered seat, and its elongated and lightened rear. The exhaust got tired of hanging out with the seat, and so it moved under the engine. The face changes noticeably, with a superimposed double optic. The chubby good looks give way to a "civilized" robot face. The manufacturer takes the opportunity to install LED lighting, both front and rear. A touch of excitement with red-painted brake calipers. Let’s quickly gloss over the redesigned rear fender, let's give a amused and/or practical moment to the retractable key.
More than 300,000 units sold... The MSX 125 has nothing left to prove. Neither it, nor its little air-cooled single. The engine specialists slightly focused on it to improve (a little) its availability. Not very powerful, not very technological, but robust as can be, this engine does not claim performance. It wants to take the bike from point A to point B without violence, simply with a certain flair. Less than 10 horsepower, 1 mkg of torque – Honda forgot to be violent. That's fine, the owners don't care. And they praise the frivolity of the MSX.
