Overview

To experience Harley-Davidson Touring, you must already be somewhat familiar with the brand's codes. It's difficult to imagine a first foray into the Milwaukee universe directly with a Road King or an Electra Limited. It is therefore possible to venture on long journeys on a Sportster, with all the advantages of a Superlow 883 and the liveliness of the 1200 twin. The Superlow 1200 T wants a lot of things; and it presents itself well to attract more than just curiosity.

At a glance, the Sportster Superlow 1200 T is a motorcycle with a low seat, a lively engine, a windscreen and a pair of saddlebags. Essentially, this machine has taken the essential chassis and accessibility of the 883 Superlow, with a seat height culminating at only 705 mm (hence its name). However, the suspensions are different and the footpegs are advanced by 7 cm. The heart has gained power, and that turns out to be quite necessary. The 883 cm3 proves a little tight for long roads. With 15 horsepower and 26 Nm more, the 1200 block will offer much more response. Enough to have fun and enjoy a still willing availability, accepting that this engine will not be able to lift your kidneys as only a fat hairy Twin Cam can. In return, the Superlow T weighs 53.5 kg less than the lightest model in the Touring range.

Atmosphere or Touring capacity!? The Superlow 1200 T is fitted with a 356 mm removable windscreen and a set of lockable saddlebags. Their anchor points allow for easy installation of a luggage rack and backrest (optional). The dashboard is visually reduced to its simplest expression, a tachometer and a small battery of indicator lights. Look more closely: the LCD window can display the engaged gear, the trip or a digital tachometer, with handlebar controls. The Superlow 1200 T also benefits from recent improvements to the Sportster range. The 300 mm front brake disc bitten by 34 mm pistons, ABS as standard, as well as the keyless start system. These were continued in 2016, with new suspensions. The fork now features a new cartridge and 3-setting damping. The emulsion rear shocks can be adjusted for preload. The redesigned seat should improve everyday comfort for the posterior. Offered at half the price of a 1745 Road King Classic, this 1200 Touring is the right machine to take your desire for a Sportster on the adventure of the roadways.
