Overview
What does a Harley-Davidson look like when it decides to start from scratch? The Nightster Special is the answer, a motorcycle that forgets old recipes to embrace the present without denying its name. We are no longer talking about an old-fashioned pushrod engine, but about a modern, liquid-cooled, multi-valve V2 with variable valve timing. This Revolution Max 975T, derived from the Pan-America but reworked for urban use and light touring, delivers 89 horsepower and 97.6 Nm of torque. Figures that, curiously, flirt with those of the former XR1200, but the character is nothing like it.

This 2025 Nightster Special differs from the standard version with revised ergonomics. A higher and more rearward handlebar by a few centimeters transforms the riding position: you go from a sporty attitude to a more relaxed, almost nonchalant stance. It even accepts a passenger, on a secondary seat that invites a nocturnal escapade rather than a grand journey. For those looking for a 2024 Harley-Davidson Nightster Special with a little more company and comfort, this is the way.
But the real bonus lies in the equipment. The Special adds a 4-inch connectable TFT screen, cruise control, a USB port and a TPMS. Three riding modes, ABS, traction control and residual torque regulation complete the picture. All this for a price that, in reality, can be negotiated around €14,900 for a Harley-Davidson Nightster Special "first hand". At this price, it faces competitors such as the Triumph Speed Twin or the Honda CB1000R, which are more mechanically lively but less charismatic.
The chassis remains identical to the base model: minimalist frame, Showa 41 mm fork, single disc brakes, and an 11.7-liter tank located under the seat. With 219 kg fully fueled, it is not light, but its low seat at 688 mm makes handling accessible. This is not a motorcycle for the pure racing enthusiast; it aims rather at the urban rider or occasional touring rider who wants a modern Harley, compatible with A2, without the archaisms.
In short, the Nightster Special is not a revolution, but a well-felt evolution. It offers a little more versatility and technology than the standard version, without changing its essence. An interesting gamble for Harley, who is trying to seduce a new generation without losing its soul.
