Overview
It’s impossible to remain indifferent to this silhouette. The 2010 Fat Bob is the dark gaze of a custom that stares you down when stopped, with its two round headlights planted like the eyes of a giant in an oversized fork. Harley-Davidson drew from the specifications of post-war bobbers to sculpt this machine, but injected it with steroids. The result is a blend of raw nostalgia and overwhelming physical presence, a concentration of attitude that expresses itself before even turning the key.

Beneath this intimidating mask beats the classic heart of the Dyna range, the Twin Cam 96 of 1584 cm3. With 76 horsepower, the figures seem modest on paper, but that overlooks the essential: its 126 Nm of torque, available from 3500 rpm, which transforms the slightest throttle opening into a thoracic and sonorous surge. The belt drive and signature Tommy Gun exhaust orchestrate a deep and percussive symphony, the true engine of pleasure on this type of machine. One does not seek pure performance, one savors mechanical authority.
This authority comes at a price, and it is measured in kilos. At 320 kg fully fueled, the Fat Bob is not a feather. Its 130 front tire and 180 rear tire, coupled with a wheelbase of 162 cm, define a geometry designed for straight lines and wide curves. Do not expect to play acrobats in lean; the motorcycle imposes its rhythm, heavy and majestic. It is a touring bike, a cruiser designed to swallow asphalt without stress, where the rider simply guides a mass that always seems perfectly balanced. The low seat at 69 cm, however, helps to manage the weight when stopped.
To whom does it appeal then? Certainly not to the frightened beginner intimidated by the mass, nor to the track rider seeking surgical precision. The Fat Bob speaks to those who first buy an emotion, a posture. For nearly 16000 euros at the time, one did not acquire a transportation tool, but a piece of motorized culture, a leather jacket on two wheels. Faced with competitors such as certain Yamaha Stars or Suzuki Boulevards, often more agile and versatile, Harley plays its unique card: identity. It flatters the ego, it produces looks, it is a style accessory as much as a vehicle. Its flaws are part of its character, and its qualities are measured in smiles per gallon, not in tenths of a second per lap. It is a machine of sensations, not of statistics.
