Overview
The Street Bob received a slight refresh for 2013. Note the additional touches of black; on the fork tubes, the engine, the fork sleeves and the battery compartment. A cut to the rear fender, a revised LED taillight, and a handlebar mounting reducing vibrations complete the list of modifications.
Keep the essentials and ditch the superfluous to selfishly enjoy the Twin Cam 88, that's the stated goal of the Street Bob. In the 1950s, Harley riders kept only the bare minimum on their machines and sped along with the wind in their hair. The FXDBI draws inspiration from this "Bobber" trend, with an "Ape Hanger" handlebar, a very low solo seat (the passenger is excluded, their seat and footrests having disappeared), indicators placed under the controls, spoked wheels, and an enveloping rear fender.
Like all Dynas since 2006, the Twin Cam is housed in a new frame. The clutch is smoother, and the fork increases to 49 mm in diameter. Pleasure has been greatly increased since 2007 with the introduction of the 1584 cm3. More full, more generous, more torquey, the 96 quickly makes the old 88 forgotten. With its tall and wide handlebar and a respectable stance, the Street Bob doesn't seem like the easiest to handle. Oh surprise, it's quite the opposite that awaits the rider. The machine is easily guided and allows you to have fun up to the limit of its lean angle. It scrapes quickly, and the braking, without being catastrophic, proves sufficient. Rebellious to the last chrome, the Street Bob is the gateway machine to the Dyna family, with a price of €13,590. To announce a price like that, Harley hasn't burdened it much with equipment. That was indeed the goal sought. Besides this very stripped-down identity, the Street Bob has another advantage: an excellent base for customizing this Dyna as desired.
