Overview
Are you looking for an entry-level Harley-Davidson? Don't be fooled by appearances. The Dyna Super Glide Custom, particularly in the FXDC versions from 2005 to 2014, is much more than a simple entry point. It's a statement of principle, a concentrated dose of Milwaukee DNA at a price that avoids emptying your bank account. At nearly fifteen thousand euros at the time, it positioned itself as the most affordable of the large displacement motorcycles, but without compromising on the essentials: style and feel.

Its Twin Cam 88 engine with a displacement of 1449 cm³ is a centerpiece of the package. With only 67 horsepower, the figures may make sports enthusiasts smile, but that misses the point. Its torque of 102 Nm, available from 3400 rpm, is the real argument. It propels this mass of nearly 300 kilos with a nonchalant authority, without ever needing to punish the five-speed gearbox. Belt drive and the supple mounting of the V2 in its double cradle frame transform vibrations into a characteristic rumble, far from the brutal jolts of older generations. This mechanical accessibility is what makes it an ideal candidate for a first contact with a large custom, an opportunity to seize for many.
However, don't expect sporty agility. The Super Glide Custom, with its wheelbase of 1595 mm and its 150 rear tire, loves straight lines and widely drawn curves. As soon as the pace accelerates, it shows its limits. The 39 mm fork and the brakes, especially the single front disc, are more there to reassure than to perform. They are natural calming agents against any excess of enthusiasm. It's a motorcycle for cruising with panache, not for attacking mountain passes. The low seat at 673 mm and the 17.8-liter tank confirm this vocation of an accessible and comfortable cruiser for everyday use or quiet road trips.
So, who is made for this Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Custom? The novice traveler who wants an immediate presence without the complexity of exotic mechanics. The aesthete who is looking for a customization base, faithful to the FXDC style with its chrome and spoked rims. It is a machine that fully embraces its heritage, offering that feeling of relaxed power and that timeless look that make the brand successful. A test of the Dyna Super Glide Custom often reveals this duality: very limited dynamic performance, but a character and an aura that, for its devotees, are worth all the technical arguments. It doesn't claim to be the best, but it is undoubtedly one of the most authentic in its role.
