Overview
One could have bet that Harley’s CVO department, a temple of chrome and pearlescent paints, would never venture onto rocky trails. And yet, here is the Pan America trail receiving its grand evening attire, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Custom Vehicle Operations workshop. The idea may be surprising: applying the philosophy of high-end customization, usually reserved for custom and touring behemoths, to a machine designed to swallow gravel. But deep down, it's a Harley, and it has its say, even in adventurer's attire.

The CVO signature is first recognized by its appearance. Here, no shimmering chrome, but a "Legendary Orange" finish that shouts its presence, enhanced with Raven Metallic and Atlas Silver accents on the tank. Carbon fiber inserts, the proud #1 logo, and anniversary badges on the fairing recall that this is a one-of-a-kind piece. But the real change, and it is significant, lies in its equipment. Forget optional accessories to be added later: this Pan America arrives with its complete expedition kit, designed with SW-Motech. 40-liter top case, aluminum side cases (45L on the left, 37L on the right, the exhaust taking up a little space), large skid plate, tri-function auxiliary lights… it is ready to cross a continent directly from the dealership. This ensemble, as practical as it may be, does however weigh down the balance: we are talking about a good forty kilos more than the Special version, bringing the weight in running order to nearly 300 kg. A figure that commands respect, especially when the terrain becomes technical.
On the mechanical side, the Revolution Max 1252cc V-Twin engine remains unchanged. With 150 horsepower and 128.5 Nm of torque, it remains the machine's major asset, offering a spirit that places the Pan America among the top of the sporty trails. Harley judged, probably rightly, that this engine didn't need to be further inflated to justify the CVO designation. The added value lies elsewhere: in the perfect integration of all adventure equipment and in the careful finish. The technical base remains excellent, with its semi-active Skyhook suspension, its 17.3 cm TFT screen, and its palette of electronic aids (traction control, cornering-linked ABS, anti-wheeling…) which make it a modern and safe machine.

So, who rides this orange beast? Clearly, for the wealthy adventurer who refuses compromises and wants a ready-to-use Harley-Davidson, without the tedious search for accessories. It is aimed at those for whom the journey begins when turning the key, not after weeks of preparation. The price, however, takes a significant leap to €27,990, propelling us into the orbit of references such as the BMW M 1000 XR or the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS. A bold positioning that bets everything on brand image and complete equipment, rather than on exclusive mechanics. It is a CVO Harley that has traded the boulevard for the track, without denying its DNA: to be noticed, and to lack nothing.
