Overview
Who would have thought? Seeing a trail bike bearing the Milwaukee shield was already a revolution. But seeing it adorned with the prestigious CVO badge, reserved for the brand's most exclusive and luxurious creations, borders on provocation. Yet, the logic is inescapable: if a Sportster or a Road Glide deserve their aesthetic and mechanical surgery, why should the Pan America escape it? The success of the exercise is such that the model returns for 2025, dressed in new camouflage attire and a deep blue that plays with the carbon fiber. An aesthetic that really pops, far from the gleaming chrome, but which displays its status with these discreet "CVO" medallions and specific saddlebags.

Under the 21-liter tank, the heart beats with the same fervor. This is where the CVO philosophy takes an unexpected turn. Usually, the Custom Vehicle Operations department brings out the heavy artillery: the largest air-cooled engine in the range, boosted to the max. Here, no supercharging or increased displacement. The 60° V-twin remains true to itself, delivering its 150 horsepower and 128.5 Nm of torque. Power that is already very healthy, which places the Pan America in the league of great trail bikes, but one might have expected a bit more demonstration of force. The CVO magic works elsewhere, in the equipment.
Because this version is an adventure touring motorcycle, ready to go, turnkey. No need to run to accessory shops: the partnership with SW-Motech provides a complete aluminum luggage kit. 40-liter top case, asymmetrical saddlebags (45 and 37 liters), all with careful finishing. The list of extras is as long as a roadbook: triple-function auxiliary lights, large aluminum skid plate, Screamin’ Eagle electronic shifter, semi-active suspensions, tubeless spoked wheels… It’s all there, or almost. This gear has a price, on the scale: nearly 300 kg fully fueled, or forty kilos more than a Pan America Special. A weight that is felt when stopped, even if the seat height of 830 mm remains accessible.

The rider benefits from all the advanced electronics of the Special: 17.3 cm TFT screen, five riding modes, angle-sensitive traction and wheelie control, ABS and interconnected braking. It is a technologically advanced machine, designed to devour kilometers on all types of surfaces, with undeniable comfort and assurance. The target audience? The affluent globetrotter who wants a Harley-Davidson without compromise, ready for adventure but with the standing and finish typical of the CVO universe. A profile distinct from track riders who will turn to a BMW M 1000 XR or a Ducati Multistrada V4 RS, more radical and sporty.

The verdict? This CVO Pan America is a compelling but unique proposition. It bets everything on complete equipment and exclusive image, rather than reworked mechanics. At nearly 28,000 euros, it hits the high end of the maxi-trail range, justifying its price with a level of finish and a lavish equipment. It will not be the most agile in tight trails, its weight working against it, but on the road or on a wide track, it deploys a presence and character that are its own. An adventure Harley that fully embraces its heritage of comfort and prestige, even in trekking gear.
