Overview
Can a Harley-Davidson still surprise us? Asking the question already implies doubt, as the Milwaukee firm cultivates a sometimes stifling heritage. But here, with this CVO Street Glide, they have decided to raid the vault. We're no longer talking about a facelift, but a surgical overhaul. At €55,000, it doesn't target the weekend biker, but the demanding rider who wants everything: prestige, modernity, and sensations that don't lie.

Look at it. The iconic "Batwing" fairing, sacred since 1969, has been put through the wringer. It has become more angular, more aggressive, with this "Omega" headlight with shaved corners and these LED bands that give it the gaze of an android. Even the windshield flows forward like on a rocket. It's an assumed aesthetic, a risky bet for a clientele often conservative. But it's the price to pay to step squarely into the present century. The diet was also on the menu, with 14 kilos less on the scale, even if the 380 kg when ready to ride reminds you that you are dealing with a liner.
The real revolution rumbles beneath the stretched-profile fuel tank. The iconic Milwaukee-Eight increases to 1977 cm3, becoming the 121. The figures are eloquent: 115 horsepower, but above all 183 Nm of torque available from 3500 rpm. It's a wave of traction that sticks you to the seat, an authority that almost makes older blocks seem ridiculous. The secret? A variable distribution borrowed from the Pan America, which considerably widens the usable range. This engine is no longer just a museum piece that vibrates, it is a living, powerful and surprisingly refined organ. We are far from the rough twin of yesteryear.
And to channel this force, Harley has finally dared. An inverted 47 mm fork and Brembo radial calipers on 320 mm front discs: that's no longer equipment for a padded custom. The front end displays almost sporty intentions, while the rear, with its increased travel, ensures the comfort of the road captain. It is this explosive mix that defines this CVO: it claims to do everything. The plethora of electronic aids, with cornering ABS and traction control, and the five riding modes, confirm this desire to master all terrains.

Inside, the traditional has given way to radical digital. The dashboard is now a huge 31 cm touchscreen, called Skyline. No more analog gauges, everything goes through this screen that manages navigation, music via a deafening Rockford Fosgate sound system, and infotainment with Apple CarPlay. It's stunning, sometimes almost too much, as if you were piloting a spaceship more than a motorcycle. It is aimed at the technophile who wants a grand spectacle, not the purist who seeks raw mechanical thrills.

So, who will buy this machine? Certainly not the beginner, overwhelmed by its weight and price. It is the ultimate mount of the wealthy Harley touring rider, the one who wants the ultimate from the brand, with all the gadgets and performance that go with it. It pulls the firm towards the future, sometimes awkwardly, but always with an audacity that we had not seen for a long time. Faced with the increasingly sharp Indian Challenger, this CVO Street Glide is proof that Harley has understood the message. It may not be perfect, but it is vital.
