Overview
Twenty years of American asphalt forge a reputation. The FLHR needs no justification: it commands by sheer presence alone, massive, anchored to the ground, with its 368 kilograms fully loaded that are not a threat but a promise. A promise of stability at cruising speed, of that rare sensation the Anglo-Saxons call "planted feeling" — a phrase that resists clean translation. For this 110th Anniversary Edition, Milwaukee chose to celebrate with restraint and precision rather than gold stickers.

The Twin Cam 103 ci displaces 1,690 cc, delivering 81 horsepower at 5,350 rpm and, more importantly, 133.4 Nm of torque from just 3,250 rpm. It is that torque that does all the work on this kind of machine: you ride below 3,000 rpm most of the time, pulling sixth gear like drawing on a steel cable, and the road rolls by. The six-speed belt-drive transmission adds to the overall smoothness, without the metallic clatter of an under-lubricated chain. The claimed top speed of 160 km/h tells you little: that is not where the Road King lives.
The anniversary finish justifies a good portion of the €23,990 asking price. The "Anniversary Vintage Bronze / Black" colorway is understated for a Harley — which is already a compliment. The solid bronze medallion on the tank, plated in black nickel, is no gimmick: it is a piece that will age with the motorcycle. The engraved plate bearing the serial number, visible beneath the instrument cluster, places each example within a worldwide limited run of 1,750 units. Cruise control and the Smart Security system round out the equipment without requiring any option negotiation. Measured against a contemporary Indian Chieftain or a Victory Cross Country, the Road King concedes on raw power but gains on overall coherence.

The 740 mm seat height keeps it accessible to a rider of average build, but those 368 kilograms demand respect at low speed. This is not a beginner's motorcycle — not because the mechanics are hard to manage in a straight line, but because handling it in a parking lot or crawling through city traffic takes practice. Its natural habitat remains the open highway, early morning, heading due west. That is why you buy a Road King. That is why you keep one.
