Overview
Imagine a spring morning on a country road, the sun still low, the air fresh, and a twin-cylinder purring. Then come back to reality: it's a 349cc single-cylinder you have in your hands, and it's enough to make that picture perfectly convincing. Royal Enfield has always known how to sell a certain idea of motorcycling rather than the motorcycle itself, and the Aurora, the latest variant of the Meteor 350, pushes that philosophy one step further into vintage territory.

The Meteor 350 range now spans several temperaments: Fireball, Stellar, Supernova, and this Aurora, which sets itself apart with its spoke wheels, carefully executed chrome details, and a seat whose finish stands clearly above the entry-level versions. The whole forms a coherent, almost elegant package that leans more toward the café racers of the sixties than toward the American custom. For this 2025 version, Royal Enfield has also introduced aluminium switchgear and LED lighting — two details that quietly modernise the proposition without betraying the model's spirit. The Tripper navigation system, a small round pod mounted at the top of the steering column, now comes as standard equipment, as on the Supernova and the Stellar.
Beneath this polished exterior hides an engine that cannot be accused of impatience. Twenty point two horsepower at 6,100 rpm, 28.4 Nm of torque available from 4,000 rpm: the profile is clearly that of a touring tool, not a sportster in disguise. The five-speed gearbox and chain drive do their job without drawing attention, the steel tubular double-cradle frame provides a sound foundation, and the 41mm fork with 130mm of travel handles road imperfections with a serenity that suits the machine's overall character well. Top speed is capped at 114 km/h, meaning the motorway is not its favourite playground, but a quiet A-road or a village to ride through — absolutely. The 765mm seat height remains accessible for the vast majority of riders, and the 191kg dry weight poses no manoeuvrability issues in town.
At €4,990, the Meteor 350 Aurora clearly targets riders who want a proper A2-licence motorcycle with genuine retro character, without breaking the bank. Against the Honda CB350, which struggles to establish itself in Europe due to limited distribution, or the Benelli Imperiale 400, which offers more displacement for a similar price, the Royal Enfield plays on its brand identity and ease of use. The beginner looking to move beyond a 125 without jumping straight to a 650, the urban commuter seeking a stylish mount for daily rides, or the weekend wanderer who favours leisurely riding over performance will all find an honest proposition here. The reservation remains the braking equipment: a single-piston caliper at the rear on a 270mm disc is functional without being remarkable, and the ABS integration could have been more seamlessly woven into the overall ride feel.
The Aurora does not seek to impress. It seeks to charm, which is a different ambition — and often a harder one to achieve. Royal Enfield manages it with enough consistency that the result holds up, both literally and figuratively.
