Overview

Just like the Panigale V2, the 890 Streetfighter V2 surprised quite a few people with its new engine – more modern, cleaner, more technical, less powerful but better equipped. A sign of a desire for reason beneath still-provocative and aggressive bodywork. With or without power moderation, the Ducati fighter remains a motorcycle with a knockout visual impact.

This generation brings unprecedented features. It’s indeed the first time the “small” Streetfighter is equipped with Öhlins suspension. Since its birth in 848, it had never been entitled to golden legs, while the big brother has not been deprived of them, whatever the versions and years.

For a few extra euros, the 890 Streetfighter S distills the comfort and efficiency of an inverted NIX30 fork and a mono-shock from the highly reputable Swedish manufacturer. Quality equipment, adjustable in every way.

The Streetfighter V2 S is also richer in certain equipment. Its electronics gain Pit Limiter and the hill-hold control; it features a Lithium-Ion battery, loses 3 kilos, and develops an allergy to passengers. Indeed, the motorcycle is sold in a single-seat configuration. To carry someone, you will need to subscribe to the passenger kit as an accessory.

With its Panigale engine and chassis, its 120 horsepower, its Öhlins suspensions, its more robust brakes (Brembo M50), its significant weight reduction, and its good dose of electronics (cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control, 3 power modes, 4 Riding Modes, Up&Down Shifter, and automatic turn signals), the SF V2 S is less expensive than the previous non-S Streetfighter. A gift for buyers? Let's not forget that it has lost 33 horsepower, the desmodromic system, and its monobrach.

On the other hand, it should prove more agile, easier, and more responsive with its variable distribution – all soaked in a new temperament. Still sporty but not explosive.
