Overview
Sometimes it's said to be eclipsed by its big sister, the V4, but the Panigale V2 has that hardened character that only a twin can offer. The FB63 version, adorned in the colors of double world champion Francesco Bagnaia, is more than just a cosmetic upgrade. It embodies the perfect bridge between the frenzy of hypersportives and relative accessibility, at least in the Ducati spirit.

Under the fairing with graphics inspired by the Desmosedici GP, beats the now-classic 955 cm3 Superquadro, reworked here to deliver 120 horsepower at 10750 rpm. The difference lies within, with the displacement increased to 890 cm3 for this limited edition. It's not a monster of pure power, with torque of 93 Nm arriving relatively early at 8250 rpm, but that’s precisely its strength. The curve is more linear, less frantic than a Japanese four-cylinder, requiring the rider to play with the six-speed selector to keep it in the right range. At 175 kg fully fueled, it’s not the lightest in its class, but its aluminum monocoque chassis offers first-rate agility.
Facing a Yamaha YZF-R7 or an Aprilia RS 660, the Panigale V2 FB63 defends a more demanding territory. It’s not an initiation machine, but rather the ideal tool for the enlightened track enthusiast or the demanding road rider seeking a racing feel without the excesses of a 200 horsepower engine. The Showa NIX30 fork and Brembo M50 braking system are serious equipment that inspire confidence, while the 837 mm seat confirms a frank sporting commitment.

At a price of 21990 euros, we are clearly in the high-end segment, where emotion and image take precedence over simple performance-price ratio. This Bagnaia replica, with its 15-liter tank and sophisticated electronics, is a civilized track beast. It forgives a little more than a V4, but still demands respect. It’s the sportbike that whispers in your ear rather than screams, and for some, that’s precisely what makes all the difference.
