Overview
If there's no GT at Ducati, there is, on the other hand, a large trail bike that wants to do everything. Off-road feel with the 1260 Enduro; muscular ascent in Pikes Peak; and if it felt like going far!?
Here's a job for this Grand Tour version. A name that sounds like a large estate car or a travel agency poster for an international trip. The Multistrada as desired is not strictly a novelty but essentially a 1260 MTS having filled up on accessories. Ducati had already done this with the 1200 Granturismo edition.
There was already the Touring pack to enhance this machine. This was clearly not enough because the Grand Tour carries much more. With essential heated grips up to large suitcases to accommodate 85 liters of cargo in total, we already have enough to consider many more horizons to discover.
Comfort is enhanced by a more welcoming seat. Visibility under random conditions sees the assistance of additional LED headlights. And since the MTS has no shaft, we will all the more appreciate the center stand for maintenance operations. Tire pressure monitoring is also part of the package, as is a fuel cap that can be opened without a key. Only a tall screen is missing.
So, once all this is installed, can we say that this Multistrada S has nothing special other than already having equipment typical of grand touring, like a Kawasaki 1000 Versys SE Tourer + or a Suzuki 1000 V-Strom World Traveller? Yes... and no; Ducati wanted it to stand out. That's why it benefits from a specific Sandstone Grey decoration - both classic and understated in its grey livery, and also a little provocative with its red accents. It can tease the sporty side because let's remember that its large twin with variable distribution develops no less than 158 horsepower and more than 13 mkg.
Its additional equipment weighs it down by 3 kilos while the price inevitably climbs. However, the final bill is significantly lower than taking all the accessories separately.
Let's not forget that for this 'enclumsque' price, this Ducati with a huge heart offers you piloted suspensions, 4 riding modes, a 5-inch TFT screen, full LED lighting with cornering function, cornering ABS, keyless start, cruise control, automatic turn-off of turn signals, hill start assist, traction control, Power modes, anti-wheeling, an adjustable seat, Brembo M50 braking on 330 mm discs (sturdy) and a driving precision genetically Ducati. In short, the Italian SUV at its peak.
