Overview

Thirty years after the first roar of the 900 Mostro, Bologna still holds its iconic roadster close. The Ducati Monster has crossed generations as few motorcycles have: from the 600 to the 696, from the 796 to the 821, from the Ducati Monster 900 to the Ducati Monster 1200, each evolution has ignited passions before conquering garages. In 2025, the 937 version continues its career without changing engine block, while almost the entire Testastretta range switches to the new 890. A deliberate choice, or a sign that something bigger is being prepared behind the scenes.

Ducati Monster

What first strikes about this model year is the consistency of the bet made during the 2021 redesign. Ducati drew a line through the steel trellis frame that characterized older versions, in favor of an aluminum monocoque borrowed from the Panigale V4. Scandalous for purists, rational for engineers. The result is undeniable: 166 kilograms dry weight, the same figure as a Triumph Street Triple RS, the undisputed benchmark in the segment. The fully fueled weight comes to 188 kilograms, compared to 208 for the previous generation. Eighteen kilograms stripped gram by gram from each component, from the rims to the swingarm including the engine itself. On a motorcycle that is as much lived as ridden, this figure changes everything.

The 90-degree L-twin engine of 937 cc delivers 111 horsepower at 9250 rpm and, above all, 93 Nm of torque available from 6500 rpm. The gain over the 821 is modest in pure power, but the torque arrives earlier in the rev range, and that's where it plays out daily. No need to rev it out to feel the machine come alive. Four-piston Brembo M4.32 calipers biting 320 mm discs at the front ensure braking worthy of its sporty ambitions, while the 43 mm inverted fork handles trajectories with seriousness. The onboard electronics have followed the progression: bidirectional quickshifter, cornering ABS, adjustable traction control and wheelie control, low-speed assist. The 4.3-inch TFT screen adopts the graphics of the Panigale, and the sequential sweep indicators bring a premium touch that was not expected to be found here.

Ducati Monster

The Ducati Monster 937 is no longer the motorcycle of all-out attack. The high 820 mm seat height, the handlebar moved back 70 mm towards the rider, the lowered and advanced footpegs, the rake angle increased to 36 degrees: all this draws the portrait of a roadster that seeks to convince beyond its usual circle. Compared to the A2-restricted Ducati Monster, or the occasional versions of the Ducati Monster 821 and Ducati Monster 797 that populate the used market, this 937 positions itself as a successful synthesis between accessibility and character. For 12,590 euros, you get a motorcycle that accepts the ambitious novice without boring the confirmed rider. The SP version, with its Öhlins suspensions, Stylema calipers and double-outlet Termignoni silencers, pushes the sporty cursor even further for those who want to rediscover the tension of the old ones.

Ducati Monster

Remains the question of substance. This Ducati Monster 2024 carried over to 2025 is a complete motorcycle, undeniably effective, probably the best version in history in terms of versatility. But it has traded a raw soul for technological know-how. Those who knew the Ducati Monster 1200 S or the first trellis versions know what has been lost in the exchange. The others, those who are discovering the brand, will have no regrets. It is perhaps exactly what Ducati wanted.
