Overview

Imagine an engineer from Noale who places a V4 of 1099 cc on a table and decides, coldly, to increase the displacement from 999 to 1099 cm³ while extracting 217 horsepower at 13,000 rpm. Not to create homologated competition; the RSV4 1100 has, in fact, abandoned that status with this evolution. No, to perform better on the road and on the track, with a machine accessible to well-trained mortals. This is the slightly crazy bet that Aprilia has kept, and the Italian V4 is forced to admit: the result delivers.

The engine is the heart of the matter, and it deserves attention. The bore increases to 81 mm for a stroke of 52.32 mm, the compression ratio rises to 13.6:1, and the torque peaks at 124.9 Nm at 10,500 rpm. Facing a Ducati Panigale V4 or a BMW M 1000 RR, the RSV4 1100 does not blush, quite the contrary. The exhaust system revised for Euro 5 is lighter and allows the V4 to sing without being muffled, which is very important for a machine of this type. 202 kg fully fueled, that's reasonable for the category, and you can feel it on the handlebars from the first change of direction.

Aprilia has clearly looked to the MotoGP paddock to dress this version. The winglets integrated into the fairings are not just a stylistic pose: they reduce the wheelies on corner exit, stabilize the trajectory beyond 200 km/h, and participate in cooling the engine. The maximum speed announced at 300 km/h makes sense primarily on the track. The perimeter double-beam aluminum frame receives a simplified swingarm, changed from seven welded pieces to three, which allows for a weight saving of 600 grams. The 43 mm inverted fork and the single shock absorber are both fully adjustable, which will delight track riders who like to spend their weekends fiddling with settings. And they will fiddle, because the adjustment range is so vast as to become confusing for those not accustomed to it.

Electronics is the area where the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory surpasses much of the competition. An inertial platform with six axes pilots a complete APRC: traction control on 8 levels, wheelie control on 5 levels, adjustable engine braking according to the bike’s lean angle, launch control with three levels, a bi-directional quickshifter without cutting the throttle. Six riding modes in total, three for the road, three for the track, and user modes fully customizable. The color TFT screen displays all of this cleanly, and the MIA system allows you to connect your smartphone to manage calls and music from the handlebars. On a €20,999 machine, you expect this comprehensiveness, but it must be recognized that Aprilia delivers it without compromise.

The only structural criticism concerns the seat, hard as a market bench, which quickly reminds you that you are on a superbike and not a GT. The 845 mm height excludes short-statured riders, unless they contort themselves. For enthusiasts of Aprilia RSV4 1100 RR or those searching for a used Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory 2024, the market offers models from 2019 at variable prices, the 2020 Factory exchanging hands for around €18,900 at the time and the 2019 Factory a little below. The 2025 version is currently priced around €19,500 depending on the configurations. The 2023 model, with its €20,999, represents therefore a price increase, justified by the technical evolution but which remains a serious investment. This is not a motorcycle for beginners, nor even for intermediate riders discovering the category. It is a machine for those who know what they are looking for, and who have the level to exploit at least half of it.
