Overview
Imagine 217 horsepower concentrated in 199 kilograms, a 1099 cc V4 that screams to 13,200 rpm, and electronics that give the feeling of riding with the safety net of a world Superbike. That's exactly what the Aprilia RSV4 1100 offers in its 2021 version, a machine that has chosen not to choose between the road and the track. The result is as sharp as its aerodynamic winglets, those small appendages borrowed from MotoGP that stabilize the motorcycle at high speed, reduce wheelies on corner exit, and participate in engine cooling.

The mechanics deserve attention. Compared to the previous generation, the engine gains displacement thanks to a revised bore of 85 mm for a stroke of 52.3 mm, which allows it to absorb the transition to Euro 5 standards without complaint while displaying 122 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. The exhaust has been redesigned for homologation, but it comes out lighter and lets the V4 sing without excessive filtering. The double-beam aluminum frame receives a simplified swingarm, reduced from seven welded elements to three, which represents 600 grams less without compromising rigidity. The suspensions are signed by Öhlins, managed electronically by the Smart EC 2.0 system on both sides, and braking is entrusted to Brembo: four-piston Stylema calipers on 330 mm floating discs at the front, a two-piston caliper at the rear. Nothing surprising for an Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, but the whole forms a coherent unit, calibrated to bite.
The 2021 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory has mainly worked on its brain. The APRC platform now integrates a six-axis inertial platform directly fused with the Ride By Wire, which reduces the overall weight by 590 grams. Traction control is adjustable in eight levels on the fly, ABS switches to cornering mode, engine braking has three distinct levels taking into account the angle of the motorcycle, and six riding modes allow you to go from Sunday rides to trackdays without touching a fine-tuning button. For the purists, the position of the engine in the frame, the rake, and ground clearance remain mechanically adjustable. The flip side of the coin: finding the right rear suspension setting among all these options takes time and a certain mechanical culture. This is not a motorcycle for those in a hurry.

Faced with a Ducati Panigale V4 or a BMW M 1000 RR, the Aprilia RSV4 1100 stands out for a price-power ratio that is difficult to contest: 18,399 euros for a machine delivered with electronic Öhlins and Brembo Stylema as standard, it is a serious proposition. The Japanese competition, R1 at the head, offers proven reliability but a less defined personality. Here, the V4 transalpin has character. The hard seat betrays long distances on the road, the seat height at 840 mm excludes some of the shorter builds, and the unique "Dark Losail" color scheme of this year leaves little room for freedom. But these are the flaws of a motorcycle that knows what it is: a track tool homologated for the road, not a GT disguised as a sport.

This year's model is aimed at experienced riders who want a dual-life machine without technical compromises. Those looking for a used 2021 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory will make a good deal if maintenance has been followed; recent versions like the Aprilia RSV4 1100 2025, displayed around 19,500 euros, push the upgrade even further, but the base remains the same. An Italian V4 that doesn't pretend.
