Overview
When a Chinese manufacturer offers two variants of the same model, the devil is often in the details. The Zontes 703 F is no exception, and understanding the difference between its two versions requires a closer look at what, on the surface, resembles a simple choice of wheels.

The Adventure version plays the confirmed explorer card. Its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels leave no doubt: Zontes is targeting unpaved roads, gravel, and forest tracks. This wheel format, common on serious adventure bikes like the Ténéré 700 or the KTM 890 Adventure, improves progression on loose surfaces and better absorbs off-road irregularities. With 95 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 76.5 Nm available from 7,500 rpm on a 699 cc parallel-twin, the engine clearly has the resources to devour miles well off the beaten path.
The Touring version adopts a more pragmatic philosophy. A 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup is the format of versatile touring bikes — those that prioritize grip and precision on tarmac. The change is significant: you gain agility in corners and responsiveness in quick directional changes, at the expense of off-road capability. For someone who will never leave the asphalt, it's the right choice. Zontes goes further by offering optional cylinder guards and side luggage rack mounts, which concretely transform the bike into a travel companion capable of carrying luggage for long-distance journeys. These accessories are not available for the Adventure version, which clearly delineates the two intended use cases.

At €7,992, the positioning is deliberately aggressive against European and Japanese competition. The aluminum perimeter frame, upside-down fork, J.Juan calipers, and 22-liter tank for comfortable range: on paper, the equipment-to-price ratio is hard to argue with. The 228 kg wet weight remains within the segment average, without being the decisive argument some might expect. A top speed of 200 km/h settles the debate on highway capabilities.

The target audience for each version is therefore clearly distinct. The Adventure speaks to adventurers who want the freedom to leave the road without a second thought. The Touring addresses the grand tourer who clocks up miles on open roads with loaded panniers. Two philosophies under the same engine, two temperaments under the same price tag. The choice is not a matter of budget — it's a matter of use.
