Overview
Discovering the Monster means choosing a motorcycle with a distinct taste, a strong identity, and claiming a piece of legend. For those taking their first steps, the 696 is the most accessible without being a pushover. The Desmo twin is inimitable, the 80 horsepower already valiant, and to enjoy a vintage flair, the 20th Anniversary edition reprises the aesthetic codes of the first Mostro.
The Ducati logo on the tank is calligraphed as it was styled in 1986. The colors adorning the M 696 take us back to the early 90s, when the Mostro 900 was presented in Cologne in the autumn of 1992: the tank and seat cover are rigorously in Ducati Red, paired with a bronze-colored frame, the vintage style is completed by the "champagne" colored fork stanchions, the gold Brembo braking system, and the chrome finish of the headlight. Even many elements of the engine and chassis realized in light grey are a tribute to the first version of the Mostro. Even the mirrors are a nod: they are identical to those of the 900 Mostro. The 696 Monster 20th anniversary is a beautiful tribute, simple, elegant, classic, in short, irresistible.
* Mostro or Monster? In the early years, the roadster was called Mostro. The arrival of the Texas Pacific Group investment fund changed some things at Ducati, including the name which was Americanized.
