Overview
Discreetly, the 1200 Super Ténéré evolved in 2014 with a bit more punch, reduced weight, enhanced riding comfort, and an identity preserved in every respect. 2017 took care to subject it to Euro4 standards. Its legendary name has afforded it notoriety, but to face the competition, a more sophisticated version with added content must complement the manufacturer's offering.
With an E to complement the XTZ, the big Yam trail becomes more upscale by offering more equipment and, above all, an electronically adjustable suspension system. With this system very similar to that equipping the FJR 1300 AE and AS, the rider can now create a custom suspension with the touch of a button. The Super-T thus joins the most technologically advanced trails such as the KTM Adventure, Ducati MTS, Aprilia Caponord and BMW R 1200 GS. Some still retain a slight lead with semi-active suspensions.
A multifunction button on the handlebar, a control software, a few micromotors and the 1200 XTZE offer you 4 preload settings and 3 for damping force, or 12 main options. The setting can then be refined on 7 levels. Ultimately, the Yamaha system results in 84 possible settings. Ciao screwdrivers and 12mm wrench. Like the base version, the Super Ténéré is equipped with UBS linked braking, a disconnectable ABS, a 3-level traction control system, a dual injection mapping (touring or Sport mode), a cruise control, the large twin engine boosted to 112 horsepower and an irresistible urge to ride. To justify its premium positioning, this E version benefits from heated grips with 3 positions, a faux suede seat cover, a top case support, large passenger grips, a center stand and handguards.
