Overview
Here is an object that sums up the paradoxes of our time. UM, an American brand born from the assembly of Chinese components, offers a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected supermotard, decked out with an adventure look, for a featherweight dry weight of 130 kilograms. The DSR Aventure claims to fuse the urban agility of the supermotard with a pretension to light touring. An ambitious program for a 124 cm³ single-cylinder engine.

Its engine breathes freely, with a bore of 58 mm for a relatively short stroke, a typical architecture of an engine that likes to rev. The figures confirm this: it takes 9750 rpm to extract its 15 horsepower, and peak torque arrives almost as high in the rev range. It is not a low-revving machine; it requires playing with the six-speed gearbox to stay in the useful zone. Liquid cooling helps contain heat during sustained use, a necessity for this type of engine.
The chassis displays clear intentions. A 760 mm seat offers a dominant riding position, perfect for slicing through traffic or scouting trails. The wheelbase of 1451 mm and ground clearance of 235 mm promise stability and a nice aptitude for suspension travel. 17-inch tires, a typical roadbook dimension for supermotards, and combined braking orient the use towards the road or stabilized paths. It is not an enduring trail beast, but an urbanite disguised as an explorer.
We are facing an economical and pragmatic proposition. The steel frame, simple hydraulic suspensions but with a rear shock absorber with adjustable preload, the single disc brake at each wheel: everything here is designed for robustness and ease of maintenance more than for absolute performance. With eleven liters of fuel, range will be limited, but consistent with primarily suburban use.
This UM DSR Aventure is aimed at the clever novice or the city dweller looking for a fun, lightweight and visually distinctive tool without breaking the bank. It does not claim to rival a KTM 690 SMC R or even a Yamaha XT660X. It rather offers an entry pass into the world of supermotards, with an adventure style that flatters the ego. It is a motorcycle for a second wind, for the small Sunday roads and the supermarket parking lots, with a smile as a bonus.
