Overview
In 2006, offering a 125 cm³ supermotard was almost a bold gamble, especially with such a stripped-down technical specification. Tomos, a brand then associated with robust mopeds, nevertheless dared to create this 125 SM. A single-tube frame, a seat perched 95 cm above the ground, and 17-inch tires clearly announce the color: we are here to play, not to show off on boulevards.

Its four-stroke single-cylinder engine, barely producing 10.7 horsepower, will not be impressive on paper. You have to imagine it in its element: a vacant lot, a trial track, or those winding country roads where agility takes precedence over top speed. With a dry weight of 107 kg, it handles like a dream. The maximum speed is around 95 km/h, making it a perfect machine for learning trajectories or urban riding, where a larger displacement would be disproportionate.
The six-speed transmission is a surprise on such a machine, offering unexpected ease of use. You can rev it out to have fun or ride smoothly without stressing the engine. The braking, ensured by a simple disc at each wheel, is in line with the whole: sufficient, honest, without superfluous pretension. It is a motorcycle that does not cheat, that assumes its status as an accessible playbike.
Who rides this Tomos today? Not the traveler, its 10-liter tank gently reminds you. Nor the rider seeking thrills on the track. However, it is a great tool for the beginner who wants to experience the sensations of a supermotard without risk, for the urban rider looking for a light and fun motorcycle to park, or even for the collector of atypical small displacements. It teaches the essentials: the pleasure of leaning, the importance of a lightweight feel, and the simple joy of an uncomplex machine.
