Overview

Among its numerous 2022 special editions, the Street Twin EC1 possesses a unique status. It is the only one referencing a place. In London Grey, the East End brings a breath of culture and colors quite opposite to the grey of this Triumph.

"Greys" would be more accurate. The main particularity of the EC1 is its two-tone color scheme. A glacial rock grey for the side panels, an aluminium grey for the mudguards; the duo meets on the fuel tank and shares it with the nominative badge and the Triumph emblem. Not the series Morden Classics version but the most modern one, in a triangle.

This livery, a limited commercialization for this single year… that’s what sets this EC1 apart from the standard Street Twin—the most popular model in the family. Therefore, same performance, same chassis, same 65 horsepower and 8.2 Nm twin-cylinder engine, identical electronics with two riding modes –ABS– switchable traction control – USB port, no accessories offered and a $600 surcharge to own it. Other euros will be necessary to obtain the matching windscreen.

This EC1 badge will speak more to the English than to us. It is a postal code, for an area of East London. Where are some iconic places: the City (business district), Clerkenwell (Little Italy of London), Shoreditch, the Chater-Lea manufacturer, Old Street, … and a strong motorcycle, pop and creative culture.

Triumph likes to celebrate key figures and picturesque places within its range. The Bonneville or Thruxton models have become more well-known than the homonymous cities. For special series, it’s more intimate. Apart from Newchurch, the few concerned variations mainly referenced the Ace Café or the Tourist Trophy.
