Overview
So, what's the new face of British fury? We're no longer talking about a simple update, but a real sledgehammer blow to the roadster world. The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS, in its 2022 version, didn't come to play a bit part. It arrived with a clear message: the era of politeness is over. With 180 horsepower bursting from a boosted three-cylinder engine of 1160 cm3, the beast has seriously beefed up its message. We move from conversation to pure spitting, with 30 more ponies than the previous model and a torque of 125 Nm that only wants one thing: to twist the throttle.

This power doesn't fall from the sky. Triumph completely redesigned the engine, with an enlarged bore and a shortened stroke for a more square and fast character. The maximum revs soar to over 11,000 rpm, and you can feel that the engineer clearly aimed for the high-end temples, like the Aprilia Tuono V4 or the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. But the British brand doesn't just throw horsepower around. It lightens the whole thing by 7 kg, equips the beast with adjustable Öhlins forks and shock absorbers, and impeccable Brembo Stylema brakes. The more compact chassis and the new position of the shock absorber promise feline agility. The prognosis for a Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS road test on a winding road is excellent.
However, not everything is perfect in this idyllic picture. The design, although aggressive with its new optics, can divide, especially with this solo exhaust pipe placed laterally which masks the beautiful rear rim. A shame for a model that has built part of its myth on its double pots under the seat. Another question mark is the price. At nearly 18,000 euros, the question "What is the price of a Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS?" calls for an unambiguous answer: it is resolutely positioned in the top tier. One could also quibble about the absence of forged magnesium rims to lighten the unsprung masses, or about colors a little too restrained. But these choices are probably the price to pay for such a comprehensive technical sheet.

Because the electronics are plentiful. A 6-axis IMU manages a 4-level traction control system, an advanced Cornering ABS, a cruise control and even a wheelie limiter. Five riding modes, including a very discreet Track mode, allow you to tame the beast, from the cautious beginner to the confirmed track rider. The 5-inch TFT dashboard and the keyless system complete a very comprehensive equipment list. The announced consumption, around 6.5L/100km, is honorable for such a machine, even if the 15.5-liter tank reminds you that refueling stops will be relatively frequent in sporty use.
So, who is this fury for? Certainly not the novice. The Speed Triple 1200 RS is the ultimate weapon of the demanding road warrior who thrives on sensations and precise handling. It demands respect and an experienced hand to exploit its potential without fear. Opinions on the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS generally agree on its brutal character and its formidable effectiveness. It doesn't mince words, it asserts itself. If you are looking for a motorcycle that puts you back in your place with every acceleration, with high-end equipment and a raging triple sound, it is here. Otherwise, look elsewhere. It is a machine that fully assumes its status as an extreme super-naked, without compromise.
