Overview

This Speed Triple RS concludes its chapter with 2025 color schemes while alongside a new model. The new version of Hinckley’s large Streetfighter is revealed here-> New 1200 Speed Triple RS with 183 horsepower and electronic suspension. But don’t miss if you want to discover the large Speed that has been shaking up roads since 2021:

It’s a voracious rumble, between effort and mechanical enjoyment. When muscle has freed itself from its own limits to lift the strong, crush benchmarks, and vandalize sensations. Eyes palpitate, the tension is electric at the moment of discovering the business card of the 1200 Speed Triple RS. It’s much more than an evolution. This time, it’s a ferocious expression of its identity. Triumph is playing it straight, it’s smashing!

Suspense would be pointless. Let’s take the slaps right away with 30 extra horsepower in the right hand. Yes, 30 horsepower! The new power achieved by the most iconic of English streetfighters is formidable. We went from 150 to 180 horsepower overnight. The Speed had fallen asleep in 2020 with a 1050 cm3 three-cylinder, serene with some of the best force and efficiency in its category. Upon waking, it had lost 10 kilos, its engine proudly displayed 1160 cm3, full of watts and almost 1 mkg of torque. But what happened?!?

Let’s go back a bit to understand the importance of this new generation. The Speed Triple was born in 1993, with an 885 cm3 engine from the Daytona sportbike. Not just the engine, though… almost everything; except the fairing and the grafting of a round headlight. A single one. It was in 1997 that the second headlight was installed and gave this roadster its identity. This time, it asserts itself, adopts the monobras, announces itself as a real baddie, a machine of thugs and temperament. It pleases, it disturbs, it causes, it flirts, and it forges its history.

2005, it’s a shock. The bike reinforces its look profoundly with two raised exhausts under the seat, a more compact and muscular build. A real rogue with 130 horsepower in the belly spat out by a new 1050 cm3 burner. The years pass, the evolutions follow. Until culminating in a bulbous olive-almond gaze, 150 boiling horsepower and a chassis among the most viewed in the band. Now, where to now… towards the fury of the genre!

The dimension of the 1200 Speed Triple is above, well above its predecessors, and its former competitors. Now, it’s going to go and tease the Tuono 1100 V4 and Superduke 1290 R. Fire pumps whose reputation is not up for debate. To deliver that much wattage, Triumph has completely revised its mechanics. With a bore strongly increased from 79 to 90 mm and a stroke reduced from 71.4 to 60.8 mm, the engine is much more oversquare than before. Ideal for finding more horsepower and gaining engine speed, sometimes at the expense of torque, which is less present. But since the displacement is a net increase (+ 110 cm3), there’s not too much to worry about on that side. Gaining in power, and not only. This large 3-cylinder benefits from 650 rpm more – for a maximum speed pushed to 11150 rpm -, 12% less inertia, an 8 Nm increase, a more compact build, and a 7 kg weight reduction. That’s a huge gain. The intake has been revised, the throttle bodies take 4 mm in diameter (48 mm), the air is expelled by a completely new exhaust, the limited-slip clutch loses discs and weight, the ignition system is new. The 6-speed gearbox is more compact and announces smoother gear changes. An Up&Down shifter, still standard, will top a quick selection. It has been improved thanks to a new variable position sensor.

Performant... Much more. The Hinckley manufacturer wants to make it its sporting reference. A vocation that the Speed cultivates close to the skin. Neither rest nor doubt in each of its lines. From its appearance to today, it has known how to keep that wild and tempered side, that powerful look expressed to the end of the fork. By recovering the look of the Street Triple 765, it gains even more aggressiveness, a new light signature, a challenge worthy of its pretensions. The engine appears more, allowing you to appreciate the presence of its cylinder head. A new engine guard, a tank that no longer shares its place with the airbox, a cooling system that hides the oil circuit to be cooled, the disappearance of the cowl in front of the speedometer – you can feel a concern for streamlining the lines. However, it’s difficult to appreciate the new arrangement of the silencer (solo). Flanked in front of the rear wheel, it prevents the visual tasting of the new double-spoke rear rim. The bike likes agility as much as power. To hold this monster on the pavement, Metzeler Racetec RR tires are implanted as standard on the cast aluminum wheels. But you can ask for Pirelli Supercorsa SC2 if you plan to go straight to the track.

Once the bottom is placed on the seat at 830 mm from the ground, there’s no need to look for where to put the key. A Keyless system allows you to unlock everything: the ignition, the ignition and the tank cap. It’s not as if the Speed will encourage you to ride straight away. There are a number of electronic functions on board, improved or new. We’re going to make a list to avoid giving birth to a dozen paragraphs. The ‘Wahouou!’ effect of abundance will be exactly the same: - A cruise control (already present on the old one) - Retro-illuminated commodo switches (updated with a new amber glow) - A new rear light and automatic-canceling turn signals - An IMU 6 axes - A more responsive and smoother wheelie control (improved) - Traction control with 4 levels of intervention, switchable (improved). It can be set to Rain, Road, Sport or Track modes - A Continental MIB-EVO-ABS cornering ABS (change). With 2 settings, Road or Track, and linked to the Riding Modes - Indeed, 5 Riding Modes (as before) that are Rain, Road, Sport, Track and Rider – each adjustable. The Track is improved to be the most discreet possible in the interventions of the assistance. The Rain reduces the power to 100 hp in addition to making the piloting aids intervene strongly. As for the Rider, you calibrate the electronics to your liking. Road and Sport are sufficiently explicit by their denomination - Always a 5-inch TFT color screen but with new interfaces, two display themes, lots of menus and settings, and a circuit-type chronograph - And the My Triumph Connectivity system, allowing you to pilot the smartphone, calls, music, and a GoPro.

Not many carbon fiber parts on this 1200 Speed Triple RS. Just the front mudguard. No Arrow exhaust as standard like on the 1050. Maybe by rummaging through the options? No, there aren’t any. Triumph provides with the bike a passenger seat, and the cover to replace it when madam has had enough of the fury of this ‘hooligan’ of the road (the first Speed was nicknamed that way).

The Triumph 1200 Speed Triple RS stuns with its figures. 180 horsepower for 198 kilos. The most powerful Triumph ever produced, with a hypersport power-to-weight ratio - the same as a 2011 RSV4 1000 factory. Between two generations, the Speed Triple has improved its power/weight ratio by 25%. And since its creation? It’s even more edifying: from simple to double. The price reaches new heights, like all motorcycles loaded with electronics and power. Except that it has become essential to establish itself as a reference in this niche. Ultimately, for some, it’s a way to satisfy the violence of their passions*.
