Overview
No motorcycle is better placed (within the Triumph range) to display a piece of memorabilia. In 900 or 1200? Both! Each finds its counterpart in the 2025 special collection, named “Icon Edition.” Each year since 2022, the manufacturer has offered a selection of models enshrined in a particular theme.
For 2025, Triumph returns (again) to its past with an interesting calligraphic choice. Its 1907 logo (until 1914) comes back to life on this Bonnie. An expert hand applies this stamp on each side of the tank and then draws gold stripes. These delineate the areas covered with a grey-silver color, touches of contrast with the surrounding black. It should be noted that the Aluminium Silver finish blends remarkably well with the patina of the engine casings and dummy carburetors.
The final small touch, an Icon logo, concludes at the base of the tank with a large grey tongue. The Bonneville T 120 is originally a motorcycle with a noble appearance; it gains here a more marked expression. We have seen bolder in some previous collections but it seems that exuberance is in a period of calm among the Modern Classics of Hinckley.
A less marked calm in the engine. Full, available and almost boxer in its pickups, the 1200 twin gives the Bonneville beautiful wings, and especially a temperament that perfectly matches its aesthetics. 80 horsepower of Leicestershire emotion, almost 11 mkgs of torque, an eternal allure and a dose of contemporary electronics. Under the early 20th century logo lie a cruise control, ride-by-wire, two Riding Modes, a USB port, ABS, a disengageable traction control... but fortunately, little digital for the dashboard. The essentials are saved with two needle gauges. So British oblige!
The 1200 Bonneville T 120 Icon Edition costs 800 euros more than the standard Bonnie. Furthermore, it is available for a limited time. If you don’t yet know the leitmotiv of this type of collection (the Gold Line, Chrome, and Stealth), there is no question of a limited number of copies but of a period: one year of presence, no more. Then, it will be another distinguished illustration.
