Overview

The explosive English roadster appears in a more radical version. The Speed Triple 1200 RS is already a sufficiently muscular machine to deliver adrenaline under pressure all the time. With this RX version, it leans slightly towards a café racer, offering a more sporty riding position and a few well-chosen attributes. A sort of compromise between the standard version and the sporty RR declination.

Before seizing the will of this sultry machine, let’s discover more deeply what differentiates the RX from the RS. The more vibrant and acidic graphics; a carbon fiber front fender; an RX logo embedded in the seat; a superb machined aluminum fork top yoke; a titanium Akrapovic silencer, a bit nicer than the stock pot and allowing for a 2-kilo weight reduction; an Öhlins Mechatronic electronic steering damper linked to the suspension control unit; and controls to pitch the rider towards the lean angle.

The Speed Triple 1200 RX obliterates its handlebars for a very beautiful pair of bracelets, which move the grips 69 mm further and 59 mm further forward. Simultaneously, the footpegs rise 14.5 mm while moving back 25.5 mm. The observation is almost imperative: it invites you, incites you, submits you to put lean angle as is not permitted and to attack beyond the reasonable.

Thus, the front end of the Triumph transcends its precision. Between the rider's more pronounced support, the Öhlins inverted fork, the steering damper, the Brembo Stylema brakes, and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires, you know that curves only ask to belong to it.

This RX can count on the essentials of the 1200 Speed Triple, with its beautiful parts - the monobras, a Brembo MCS brake lever, this aluminum frame with intrinsic design, Öhlins everywhere, quality hardware - its rogue-chic look and its breathtaking engine. The 2025 evolutions allow it to output 3 extra horsepower, for a total of 183 horsepower at 10,750 rpm. A full and available mechanical package at all speeds, powerful and exhilarating, without weakness and highly addictive. The torque is not lazy either, with 128 Nm. It is therefore better to have a real technical background and a bit of composure to exploit it.

And riding assistance to get the most out of it. Depending on the 5 laws available of the Speed: several riding Modes allow the electronics to more or less tame the English bike. Between Rain, Road, Sport, Track or User, there is enough to vary the sensations, the control and the cheekiness. In the brain of this fire pump, you will find traction control (deactivatable) and an ABS optimized in corners, an Up&Down quickshifter, wheelie management, engine braking control and an engine braking slide control, and cruise control. The Smart EC3 OBTi control unit takes care of piloting the suspensions in real time - this latest generation of Öhlins damping is only found on certain high-performance hypersport machines.

While we’re at it, let’s not forget a few “comfort” elements like the keyless on-board system, the 5-inch color TFT screen, the backlit switches, Bluetooth connectivity to pair / pilot your smartphone, have simplified navigation and control the music.

The RX designation is quite rare at Triumph. It was only used for a special version of the 675 Street Triple in 2015; which was enriched with equipment and borrowed some gear from the Daytona.

With the 1200 Speed Triple RX, the attraction for trajectories and the circuit is even more affirmed. It becomes a refined, alluring and unsettling motorcycle, intended for tense and precise use with a touch of fantasy in the curves. It will be limited to 1,200 copies worldwide.
