Overview

A monster of muscle and darkness that kicks down the door, rattling the windows. That's the last breath of the Suzuki Intruder M 1800 R BOSS, a beast from another era swept away by emissions regulations. Imagine a dragster disguised as a custom, with a V-twin of 1783 cm3 that roars at 6200 rpm to unleash 125 horsepower and a titan's torque, 159 Nm from 3200 rpm. This engine isn't here to debate, it's here to impress, even intimidate.

Suzuki VZ-R INTRUDER M 1800 R BOSS

Everything about it screams provocation, especially in this BOSS finish which blackens it to the core. Handlebar, inverted fork, exhausts, even the engine is swallowed by this dark hue, leaving only a flash of bright color like a challenge thrown down to the road. With its 240 mm wide rear tire and endless silhouette, it crushes the asphalt with a glance. Yet, its seat at only 705 mm from the ground makes it surprisingly accessible, a trap laid for novices who might believe in its docility.

Don't be fooled, this Suzuki is a brute. The front end, with its inverted fork and radial dual disc brakes of 310 mm, promises serious stopping capabilities, necessary to calm its 347 kg fully fueled. The shaft drive adds a touch of refinement to the brute force, but it is its excessive character that dominates. It doesn't target the wise long-distance rider or the urban commuter, it targets those who want a radical custom, a stage presence, a mechanical howl at every traffic light.

Facing the competition, it positions itself as an outsider. Harley-Davidson Softail or Yamaha VMax of the time offered other philosophies, often more refined or, conversely, even more extreme. The BOSS, on the other hand, remains a UFO, a final surge from an era when excess was an end in itself. At nearly 15,000 euros, it was a passion purchase, an act of faith for the bearded or closely shaved with a strong character. Today, it has become a collector's item, the roaring memory of a time when reason came after the thrill.
