Overview

Let's not lie to ourselves, the standard GSX-S 1000 has sometimes suffered from a lack of visual character, as if it had forgotten to put on its tie before an important meeting. A crazy engine, that of the legendary GSX-R 1000 K5, but dressed in a slightly too conservative suit. Suzuki therefore let the wizards at Yoshimura handle it for the British market, and the result, this Special Edition, immediately gives a style lesson to the base model.

Suzuki GSX-S 1000 F Yoshimura Special Edition

The transformation is radical. Farewell to the faded colors, make way for an aggressively striped gray dress, like battle scars. The Yoshimura R-11 exhaust, much more than an accessory, is the promise of a sound that must match the explosive temperament of the four-cylinder engine. Added to this is a whole array of Yoshimura branded parts: steering nut, caps, filler plug, all with a finish that smells of a serious tuner. Even the small details, such as the rim stickers or the matte black levers, contribute to forging an exclusive motorcycle identity, almost bespoke. They even removed the passenger footrests, a clear message: this machine is a personal affair, an egoistic dialogue between the rider and the asphalt.

And what a dialogue. The heart of the beast remains this 999 cm3 engine, delivering 145 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and a meaty torque of 104 Nm. It's not the highest raw power in the segment; a BMW S 1000 R or an Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 clearly announce their colors with more impressive figures. But where the Suzuki excels is in its instinctive response, its way of releasing its energy with a linearity and progressiveness that inspires immediate confidence. The perimeter aluminum frame and the 43 mm inverted fork handle it all with a track-worthy seriousness, even if the announced weight of 210 kg does not make it the most agile of naked sportbikes.

Ultimately, this Yoshimura Special Edition is the perfect remedy for the relative anonymity of the GSX-S F. It proves that with a worked exterior and a few selected parts, Suzuki had in its sleeve a roadster with a well-tempered character, ready to cross swords with European aristocrats. Its flaw? Being reserved for the British market alone, leaving continental Europeans with the standard version, inevitably less desirable. It is the perfect motorcycle for the demanding globetrotter looking for an authentic, reliable, and undeniable R pedigree sportbike, all with the patina of a great tuner. A limited edition that, ultimately, shows the way to follow.
