Overview

The RC series, for Reparto Corse, has undeniably established itself within the MV-Agusta lineup. The original F4 served as a precursor to become a Superbike icon; other models capitalize on this to emphasize the sporty character and appeal to the buyer.

The Dragster 800 reaffirms its faith in the colors of the competition department. The paint scheme fascinates and threatens with its scent of ashes and blood, intensified by the presence of an SC Project silencer. The welding work on the intermediate pipe is simply superb, worthy of the finest achievements of the 2-stroke era.

Now, this devil is equipped with the SCS clutch – the "Smart Clutch System." A system provided by Rekluse to approach the ease of use of a semi-automatic transmission. Basically, it’s the combination of a centrifugal clutch coupled with electronic management, eliminating the need to use the clutch lever. This allows for faster gear changes, lightning-fast starts, and adds only 36 grams of weight. Let's not confuse it with an automatic or robotized transmission. To change gears, it doesn't do it automatically; you still need to use your foot and the gear selector.

A few special parts, a racing livery, and here we are in the atmosphere. This special series is built on the 800 Dragster RR. That is the most aggressive version of the Dragster with a 3-cylinder engine producing 140 horsepower. These horses don’t want to stay calm, and are waiting for their friends. The racing kit supplied with the motorcycle allows, once installed, to gain 8 kilos and increase power by 10 horsepower. At its best, it displays the thrilling ratio of 150 horsepower for 160 kilos! Between the Italian colors and the scent of battle, MV-Agusta no longer shows the 37 that symbolizes the brand – its number of world championship titles. A figure that hasn't changed since 1974.

To mark this special series, the manufacturer adorns it with a few carbon fiber parts, such as the front fender supports, the rear fender, the speedometer cowl, and the trim pieces at the base of the tank. A pity, we lose the superb spoked wheels of the standard version, replaced by forged rims. The Marzocchi fork has lost its red anodization but remains fully adjustable. The shock absorber is equally so. For the seat, a bi-texture saddle combines leather and topstitching.

Like the RR, the Dragster 800 RC is crammed with electronics with MVICS 2.1 management. It includes Ride-By-Wire, 8-level traction control, 4 riding modes working with engine management, traction control, throttle sensitivity, engine braking, torque curve, etc... Three are pre-programmed according to specific profiles (Sport, Normal, Rain) and one is completely customizable by the user. The EAS 3.0 Quickshifter allows you to upshift and downshift without throttle interruption. Recently, the machine has recovered a cruise control, an inertial unit, an adaptive headlight in corners, cornering ABS, a connected TFT screen, and a Launch Control. Sporty, the frame still relies on a trellis frame made of steel tubes connected to beautiful aluminum plates (optimized for rigidity), Brembo radial brakes with 4 pistons around 320 mm discs, a rear end trimmed to the quick, and a large 200m rear tire.

MV-Agusta has ennobled an entire RC family, where this 800 Dragster RR SCS sits aggressively. To emphasize the exclusivity of the model, it will be manufactured in a limited number of copies - 200 for 2021. At a re-indexed and difficult-to-justify price. But with an MV, we don't care much - it's the passion that speaks.
