Thirty-five victories at Assen. Not thirty-seven, the fetish number MV Agusta has been stamping on its special series for years to commemorate its world titles. This time, the Varese firm chose a different chapter of its memory — a Dutch circuit nicknamed the "Cathedral of Speed," a temple where its machines dominated with a consistency that infuriated the competition throughout the 1950s and 1960s. That number 35 sits on the tank like a deed of historical ownership, and it's precisely this kind of narrative detail that separates a successful special edition from a mere paint exercise.

The livery plays on a marriage of azure blue and metallic grey, accented by gold pinstriping on the tank and side panels. It's not flashy — it's calculated, almost couture. A silhouette of the Assen circuit layout runs along the base of the tank, and the serial number has migrated to the tank-seat junction, set into a blue Alcantara surround with yellow stitching. The Rotobox carbon wheels, fully tinted in blue with spokes tapered like watch hands, replace the colored BST units from the Nürburgring edition. Several other components are cut from the same material: headlight fairing, engine case covers, side panels, airbox cover. The whole package weighs 180 kg dry, which remains an achievement for such a well-equipped machine. Production is limited to 300 units, placing this Brutale firmly in the extraordinary category.
Mechanically, this version is based on the RR platform — meaning the Brutale equipped with standard semi-active Öhlins suspension, a 43 mm NIX EC inverted fork and TTX rear monoshock, each with 120 mm of travel. The 998 cc inline four-cylinder, with its square bore and stroke dimensions of 79 x 50.9 mm and a 13.4:1 compression ratio, already delivers seriously impressive figures in standard configuration. But the real interest of this package — and the answer to the question every prospective buyer is asking, what is the power output of the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR Assen — lies in the kit delivered with the bike. This "Special Parts Kit" contains Arrow titanium exhausts with the corresponding racing ECU map, a carbon seat cowl, and CNC-machined controls. The result: 212 hp at 13,600 rpm and 116.7 Nm at 11,000 rpm, with a 3 kg saving on the scales. The claimed top speed reaches 300 km/h. Against a Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP2 or a BMW M 1000 R, the Brutale Assen operates in the same register of consensual violence, but with a collector dimension its rivals simply cannot replicate.

The electronics package pulls its full weight: four riding modes, traction control, six-axis inertial measurement unit, fourth-generation bidirectional quickshifter, anti-wheelie, cornering ABS, cruise control, integrated GPS, Mobisat geolocation, launch control. The 5.5-inch TFT dashboard manages all of this with ergonomics that have improved over recent generations. Radially mounted four-piston Brembo calipers bite on 320 mm discs at the front, with a single 220 mm disc at the rear. Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires in 120/70-17 and 200/55-17 complete a chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame whose rigidity is calibrated to absorb the engine's torque without catching the rider off guard.

At €45,599 MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR Assen price, this machine is not aimed at the average rider. This is not a bike for beginners, nor even for intermediate riders dreaming of a muscular roadster. It is an object intended for those who want to own a functional collector's piece, capable of going very fast on public roads before taking pride of place in a well-kept garage. Giacomo Agostini still holds the record for victories at the Dutch circuit with 14 wins. MV Agusta has not won a Grand Prix in a long time, but it continues to sell dreams with a consistency that commands respect.
