Overview

Conjointly with the evolution of its engine, the V7 Classic evolved and became the V7 Stone – a designation formerly associated with the California, in its stripped-down version. In fact, the range is available in 3 versions: the V7 presented here, which is the entry-level model, then the V7 Special, more vintage, and the V7 Racer. No real changes on the silhouette, except for the dark color scheme, the addition of fork gaiters, the presence of spoked rims, an increased fuel tank to 22 liters and a revised price. 2014 removes the chrome on the mirrors, now black, and eliminates the metal passenger grips.

Like all models powered by the 744 cm2 engine, the V7 benefits from a major overhaul of its twin-cylinder. There are as many as 70% of new parts, both inside and outside. The cylinder head fins soften their edges and are then covered with a decidedly more classy new cylinder head cover. The spark plug takes the opportunity to hide and the volumetric compression ratio increases; it goes to 10.2:1. A lot has been revised in the cylinders: new combustion chambers, new pistons and rings, and modified intake. This is now done via a single 38 mm injection body. The gas flow passes through a Y-section to feed the two bowls. On the outlet, there is a lambda probe for each cylinder. In addition to improved consumption, this revised engine announces better performance, with 48 horsepower now and more than 6 mkg of torque. The gearbox also announces an improvement in comfort. In 2014, a more compact alternator is installed.

After the W 800, 865 Bonneville and the late DucatiSportClassic, vintage machines have found a market and the firm from Mandello has jumped on the bandwagon. When you are called Guzzi, and you have in your genealogical tree a lineage as renowned as that of the old V7s, why would you deprive yourself of a beautiful retro-style machine?

The return of the V7... A delicious little motorcycle with the look of another time, with that little charm that makes you want to try it right away. The Sixties designed this machine, the Breva 750 lent it its engine. A small 744 cm3 without fuss but equipped with a shaft drive, the typically Guzzi crankshaft and which allows to contain the price of this machine. If the silhouette places it in the vintage category, the equipment is as sensible as the 48 horsepower of the twin. Standard fork with a single brake disc, a very classic tubular steel double cradle frame, 2 rear shock absorbers... Is there a need for more? Certainly not. Especially since the V7 Stone announces a more obvious road behavior combined with an engine with more punch. We are in the presence of a pleasure motorcycle, which smells of rides between hazelnuts and charm.
