Overview
On one side, the main front of the battle, with 200 hp hypersport bikes with technical refinements worthy of a Superbike, completely unexploitable on the road. Further back, the Revival trend, motorcycles with designs drawn from the glorious past of brands. This is how Moto-Guzzi unveiled the V7 series, a renewal of a prestigious lineage, with a Breva 750 heart. A competitor to the Triumph Bonneville for a nearly identical price.
The V7 range was redesigned in 2012. This Special is a more vintage and provocative version than the base V7. It abandons spoked wheels for wire-spoked wheels, much more classic in spirit and style. Previously chromed, they become black in 2014. A beautiful two-tone finish covers the tank, the capacity of which has been increased to 22 liters.
Like all models powered by the 744 cm2 engine, the V7 Special benefited from a major overhaul of its twin-cylinder engine. There are no fewer than 70% of new parts, both inside and out. The cylinder head fins soften their edges and are covered with a frankly more classy new cylinder head cover. The spark plug takes the opportunity to hide and the compression ratio increases; it goes to 10.2:1. A lot has been revised in the cylinders: new combustion chambers, new pistons and rings, and modified intake. This is now via a single 38 mm injection body. The gas flow passes through a Y-section to feed the two bowls. On the outlet, there is a lambda probe for each cylinder. In addition to improved consumption, this revised engine announces better performance, with 48 horsepower now and more than 6 mkg of torque. The gearbox also announces an improvement in comfort. In 2014, a more compact alternator was grafted.
