Overview

Oh oh... the V7 is getting angry! Yet, this isn't the kind of roadster that smells of gunpowder, but in this Sport version, you can tell it has taken the bit in its teeth. Or rather, that it is taking control of its front end. Alongside the revamped V7 Stone and Special (slightly), here's a new and interesting variant.

There have been approximately 25 versions of the V7, exploring different themes. The Sport stands out with a much more muscular front end than anything we've seen in the long line of this model. The Italian gets an adjustable 41 mm inverted fork and doubles its braking system, with two 320 mm discs and Brembo 4-piston radial calipers.

This is serious, perhaps even too much for a motorcycle with a flowing temperament and a nostalgic profile. She doesn't see it the same way, pushing her will with a better master cylinder and lighter rims. A gain of 1.8 kg compared to the V7 Stone. More dynamism is added to the CV of this Guzzi, to a level that was not known. Even the V7 Racer didn't have the right to this kind of equipment.

All V7s are equipped with the “Strada” and “Pioggia” riding modes. Only this one pronounces a 3rd Mode called Sport, minimizing the intervention of traction control and adopting a more lively engine mapping. On top of that, Guzzi installs a 6-axis inertial unit to further refine the reactions of Traction Control and optimize cornering ABS. This time, the V7 Sport is tipping into exaggeration. She doesn't have the engine or temperament to exploit this kind of electronic assistance. In trying too hard to follow the trend, she equips herself with frivolities. Not to mention the price which will unnecessarily inflate.

The Mandello twin is not looking for racing or adrenaline but the charm of rides full of emotions. Proud of itself, Guzzi regularly improves it. The Euro5+ barrier is cleared without problem and with brilliance. A ride-by-wire command, a larger airbox, a 3rd lambda probe, optimized cooling and exhaust, as well as a larger throttle body give the engine 4% more power. When you bring it to 6,900 rpm, it will be carried away at 67.3 horsepower. Torque now exceeds 8 mkg on a V7; for all models in the family.

The V7 Sport hasn't said its last word. Its technical gluttony is accompanied by a certain coquetry, as evidenced by the red-stitched seat, aluminum headlight brackets, café-racer-style end-of-handlebar mirrors, aluminum inserts on the side panels and the stylized bridge plate.

We can't blame this V7 Sport for seeking more dynamism and sensations of a different level than that of the destiny of the V7s. Yet, by repeatedly saying that it descends from one of the most famous sportives of the brand, the 1972 V7 Sport, it has ended up believing it. Even its 'Verde Legnano' color is that of the time.
